Sometimes ball pythons can prolapse, and surgery may be required to remove hemipenes. That's the only thing I could think of.

they probably don't know what they are talking about... are they selling it as male or female?

Maybe the seller considers breeding a bad thing and just doesn't want the snake going somewhere where it will be bred? *shrug*

The owner probably meant the animal in question is a family pet and not a breeder, not everyone owning morphs do so with the purpose of breeding, some just have them as pets.

Or, as some folks say, it's pet quality..meaning it could have some sort of defect? Small eyes, kink, something.

I think it is just so they do not get flagged. You are not supposed to be a breeder selling animals on CL.

Sometimes you get a snake that just plain won't breed. Or it may have been kept as a pet and is being sold as such so as not to misrepresent it as a proven breeder.

I'm going to bet they just don't think it should be bred because they kept it as a pet. Like most people do with dogs/cats.
