My first albino!!!!!!!

My new guy (albino) and girl (het albino) I got yesterday!!! So excited, i've ALWAYS wanted an Albino.

Thanks guys!! I've wanted an albino python my whole life! I finally found a good deal and it came with a het female. Couldn't pass it up.

I was the same way, my girl kind of surprised me and told me the day before she founf one and we could get it! He's the coolest snake I own too lol he loves getting around and exploring everything!

thank you, i'm still trying to learn the genetics. I've read tons on it, but I just really don't get it. So I just use the worldofballpythons genetic wizard or whatever, lol...it get's the job done.

I'll just have to sit down one day and study the genetics posts people have made and try to learn it.

In a nutshell here are the results that you would get pairing your Albino.

Albino x Albino = Albino
Albino x Het Albino = Albino and 100% Het Albino
Albino x Normal = 100% Het Albino
Het Albino x Het Albino = Albino, Het Albino*, PH Albino* (* would sell as PH)
Het Albino x Normal = Het Albino and PH Albino (All would sell as Possible Het)

Ok, I got you. So with the Albino X Het Albino...is that normally half and half, or is it really just random, but you'll get albinos and 100% het?

What I really want to learn to do...

Albino Pied.

I just don't quite get the genetics. I know you can't just put an albino and a pied together and make them....but after that, i'm lost. You have to breed the babies back up to the mother or father? I dont know lol....

Yup, it would be a long process since you will need a breeding size female that carries both the Albino and Pied gene.

Your next step would be getting your Piebald.

Albino x Piebald = You would get all normal looking offspring that are double het for both Albino and Piebald. Raise up a female double het as your breeder and in the interim 18 months get a double het male, visual Pied het Albino male or visual Albino het pied to complete the parining. Or you can always produce both male and female yourself. =)

In order to get your Albino Pied you need to have both a male and a female that have both recessive genes.

So, by this do you mean...not that it's the plan, but if I paired an Albino and Pied...after the offspring got of age and size, I could just breed two of the offspring and get it?

In theory, Yes. I would stay away from breeding siblings to each other though. Breeding siblings back to their parents is a more common practice. You can reference the below link to view various opinions on inbreeding, line breeding and selective breeding

It's not JUST an Albino, but a beautiful one at that. I really like the yellows and clean white coloration. You definitely got one good looking boy :).
