Just picked up a collection of snakes from Guy on fuana
Ok I saw a post on the fuana this morning about a guy had pythons and boas with cages free, I called thinknig ther a gimick well the guy been so busy and is for got to move in 2 weeks that he got to reduce his animals. I was just going to orginally look at a carpet pythons. I took my nephew with me I know the guy claim to be busy and with moving the new place does not allow snakes. I end up up bringing them all home between stuck sheds, mutli sheds in tanks, and their general poor size I felt it be wrong to leave them all behind. I would took cages if i had the room to place them. Below are pics my nephew took as I pulled them out of the bag(of pillow cases) now for reference size I am 210 lb and 5'7" tall. I know I can't save them all and I don't plan on keeping these guys long time I want to get them healthy again and offer out as pets.

I like the boa. Good luck with them and keep us updated please.

Re: Just picked up a collection of snakes from Guy on fuana
If my eyes do not deceive me the Boid on picture 8 is a Cites A protected species. It's common but still ' rare ' according to CITES. Acrantophis dumerili needs to come with paperwork.
Unless my eyes do deceive me and it's just a nice wildtype or salmon.. I'll take my words back :p
Good luck with the animals!

Yaron

Does it look like you got a Hog Island in the bunch?
-
Re: Just picked up a collection of snakes from Guy on fuana
hope they don't cause that what hesaid had dumerils, the hog island, redtail, carpets and the bp, it was 2 dumerils, and 2 carpets
-
I love the Hogs. Looks like its in good shape too. I'm wishing you lived closer and it was a male, because he would have a home already!

Then I'd try to get paperwork on them if they really are dummi's :) Maybe their owner still has the declaration forms.
They are probably chipped as well, unless their breeder was not responsible..
In my country the law is very strict. If they catch you with undocumented dummi's or non-chipped animals, a hefty fine is laid upon their owner.

hopefully the United states not as pickie or strict. I got the guys info and I might call him later cause if that required I be royally in deep crap. I was just shocked my nephew didn't cuss any about how they were kept cause he knows my keeping not the worlds best but it never been that bad even when I was sick and didn't have the stuff.
the next 4 days will be offering food, finding enough water bowels and letting them mellow.
IF they all start eating for me in the next 2 weeks and nothing shows up will adopt out ( cost people the shipping supplies and shipping only)
-
awesome thing your doing. my hats off to you. I got a few rescues that fit in perfect and one will actually hopefully lay her first clutch this year.:gj:

Well I got sweet news right off the back outside the 2 carpet pythons and the little ball python all snakes have ate ( mostly mice since I found a large bag of 8 I had, The dumerils ate 2 eat), I also found by luck my 7th tub lid so I now got eat snake in it own tub.
sadly I currently maked out on the snakes I can take in as I got no more tubs and no more water bowls.
I just hope the rodents realize it time to step up there breeding efforts or I will be out of food by mid November ..

I'm pretty sure it's different here. I know a number of people with dums, and have never once heard that they require any special paperwork or microchips. They may require it for international sales, similar to what's needed for ball pythons, but for sales within the US, they're not treated any differently than the other common species in the pet trade.
-
I don't believe any paperwork is needed for the dumerils either. I've kept and bred them and never had any issues keeping or selling them.
Looks like a pretty good group, all in all.

well oustide the 2 carpets they are all eating ( just sucks cause they erased my entire mice in the freezer) all I got left are large rats for the other redtail snake i aquired this summer. I could of sworn I had more of the mice on hand. I already been warned I not allowed to keep these guys cause based on the info I found they over the agreed to keep length and the fact I already have my orginal 23 snakes ( plus 4thesnakelady coming over the next months as we combine our collection and start to move into a house together ) SHe been the best thing to happen to me since I got interenet access back 20 years ago lol.
Not sure if it just the carpets nerveness or me but the skinnier one stricking out at all movement and the larger yet still skinny seems to be scared too. I guessing going from little to no heat, food, and water to better set up is a slight shock. I think I am goingo t keep the hog island boa and put the other redtail ( over 7ft ) up for adoption in the next 2-3 weeks wit hthe rest once I see they are all starting to regain weight and lose a little of their fear. ( unless they eat me into the poor house sooner as I know my person collection already reduced my live on hand supplies. ) I lucky as I put money in the bank but I was planning on using it to buy breeding stock ( rodents) and extra feeders.
will pick up some largest mice I can find to see if carpets will eat live as a starting point.
it a weird sight walking into my bedroom and got 9 snakes in QT and never put a penny out. What sucks mostly is grass cutting season is almost over so ( as said befoer ) my extra money for snakes will cut almost out. for the season. I need to look into what I need/cando to get listed as a nonprofit snake rescue in DE. It sucks in 2-3 years I think I had 20+ snakes rotate though my care , and they always leave in better shape.

Re: Just picked up a collection of snakes from Guy on fuana
well I got the pics I was hopping I could keep them until spring but after the one carpet tried to take a bite out of mom, it been told they got to someone else or I have to have them put to sleep she will not have aanythign that will strike at her/cats in such a fashion. which I can under stand with mom she an easy bleeder at time due to her meds. (we spent an hour getting a small cut to stop on her arm one night when she tripped ) I can say they all eating and most have shed.
-
Thank you for rescuing them!! Those carpets are so beautiful, if I lived closer I might offer to adopt one... hope you can find a home for the biter, so she doesn't have to be put down. That would suck. :( Anyway, good luck!

Re: Just picked up a collection of snakes from Guy on fuana
Good job on rescuing them. I hope they find good homes.
-
well I hope to find them homes too I lucky I can ship via reptile express if need so that a good point I just have to get bigger boxes and make my snake bags ( stitch them shut to prevent escaping since I not sure a pillow case will hold the tight knot
I also may got te dumerils a home and they are taking rats np
-
ok another update of sorts,
Rogue628 adopted the 2 dumerils frome me and has recieved them earlier this week.
the 2 carpets and 1 bp myight have homes soon waitign on word back. I had a couple other people express interest in some snakes but never returned pms after the first couple.
all snakes are eating pooping and have shed now,
My only problem is the carpets seem to like ot knock their water over asap , my next step is placing a brick in the bowels to keep them from being flipped lol.

I would love to adopt the ball python. Is it male or female? Do you know how many grams he/she is? How long is it? PM me with details :D
