Personally I thought it was rather dumb. Of course the snake is going to eat his finger, it's about the size of a mouse and it doesn't realize it's attached to the hand. I really want to know what he did to get it to bite his finget to begin with.

I don't think it's that bad. Yeah, a stupid person could be strangled to death by a ball, but I doubt one ever would. They're pretty much harmless.

On top of making a stupid, pointless video, he's going to stress that snake out for no reason when he pulls his finger out.

Yupp, kinda like making it regurgitate a meal since the finger is mistaken as a meal it COULD affect the snakes appetite.

Yea and ive heard of snakes dying from a bad regurg. I'm sure the chances are slim with that happening from his finger but why would you even want to risk that with one of your animals. If you care that little about it then give it to somebody else.

I agree, but they do care for them and are a huge breeder.

I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and say the snake started eating his finger so he grabbed a camera. I'm pretty sure once the snake reached his hand it would start to spit it out too, but he might have had to remove it. :(

The snake is not going to die from that, it is not the same as a regurgitation.

As far as stress? I really do not see an animal that is stressed out.

I have had the odd BP mosy over and eat my finger, as well as the odd colubrid.

The whole thing seems pretty light hearted to me. :)

I understand this but I would at least attempt to cause as minimal stress as possible... Maybe letting it eat the finger to the point of the hand would cause less stress then taking the lil bit of finger it started with out idk never had to deal with it.

Once a royal has struck and started the rest is instinct you can move them around and they are absolutely oblivious. (why they will not feed unless they are in 'safe surroundings' the snake is taking no harm and it is not really much to do once it starts you could try hot water or cold water or mouthwash or any number of other folk things but the best thing for the snake is to just wait it out so it and let it let go. When you think on some of the ways people try to get them to let go waiting for instinct to click off seems quite responsible.

Silly little ball python. It's going to swallow him whole. I'm not sure if id let the bugger try and swallow my finger. (might mess up one of my nails). But I thought the video was silly, just a silly snake being a snake.

I think he should have stopped it sooner. He could have run the risk of stressing it or pulling out teeth if he had to pull it off.

As long as the animal isn't hurt, I don't think it's so bad. :)

I figure the snake will release his finger when its ready. Better than him forcing it off or something like that.

I didnt see anything about where he started to eat his finger... do you suppose he may have "force fed" the snake his finger?
Looks like boys being boys and snakes being snakes...

Hmm. well first Jay said he prefered retics. Thats his own perogative. They have messed people up worse than a couple little teeth holes. The fact that he let it keep going up his finger isnt the smartest thing ive seen people do. I realize the guy is a breeder but wtf. Really? Sit there and tape it working its jaws up ur hand? He may be a breeder but after seeing that i cant say i would ever buy a reptile from him. Just looks like ignorance at its finest to me. But thats just my opinion.

Yes he is Jay from Prehistoric pets, I do not think who he is justifies what happened but quite frankly I like most their videos... The one thing I am worried bout is if he did stress the snake when pulling his finger out.. I believe it mentioned that's what he was gonna do.

Oh, the guys who cut eggs and immediately pull hatchlings out to look at them? Better not watch the video, I'm guessing I won't enjoy it..

Everybody's an "expert" and thinks they know how to do it better than the other guy...who happens to have hatched THOUSANDS of healthy snakes throughout his YEARS of experience...Just sayin.

I always love how quickly the "I'll never buy a snake from him now" condemnation gets spewed around so quickly too. Somehow, I think he'll survive.

Exactly, I saw that video. I was just in awe. And just because he has been doing this for years and hatched a bunch of snakes doesn't mean anything. Actions like cutting an egg and pulling the snakes out is unacceptable to me, I won't buy from them because of this. If he does that, what else does he do wrong when not on camera?

A lot of the time them snakes are just mean, are you saying if you had a mean snake you would not attempt to handle it. This is different because they do not allow the snakes to eat their fingers and then pull the finger out.

Do not get me wrong guys I like their videos and I think the things they produce are awesome I think this got a little out of hand lol but if you would like to keep comments coming in on the situation I do not mind.

Personally I don't like what he did, breeder or not. I bet if some teenager that just bought his first new BP from Craigslist did this he would be catching a lot more negativity, when in reality it makes no difference who did it.

If you have ever looked at your snakes teeth they are inward facing once on, the only way to pull you finger out would be break the teeth off unless there is some way i don't know. I don't know how else to force a snake to let go where it is in feeding mode.

to me pulling out your finger by force it very likely to damage the teeth of the animal. Waiting it out seems the best action.

How do you pull your finger out otherwise? The one good bite I got (my spider he has crumby aim) I sat with him trying to kill my hand for 40 mins before he gave up.

I'd love to know how to extract your self with out harming the snake How do you do that?

I don't know how it got on his finger and I never saw any eggs so I can't comment on that.
