Boas and rats ...
Hey everyone,
I know a few people keep their bp's and rats in the same room without issues but how about boas? Thanks in advance.

I do and they are fine. If I have a boa out and I walk by about 10ft away their heads go straight up all around trying to figure out where their food is coming from

Thanks. I was just wondering because the second my boas smell rats they're ready to eat and I'm going to put them in the same room (reptile room):D

Re: Boas and rats ...
I personally wouldn't, because boas do have a very strong feeding response.

I agree with Eddie...if I even walk around my boas enclosures a lot they can start to think it's feeding time...and boas are far more "pushy" about eating than bps...if they can constantly smell their food you increase your chance of being bitten exponentially

Thanks, I have been thinking about it and I will not put my boas in the same room with the rats just because of feeding response. I mean these boas smell a pink a mile away and are ready to eat.

Yeah, I've heard of it being done without any issues. Personally, I know it wouldn't work for my boas. If there's food two rooms down they'll smell it and go nuts. I actually have to cover my big girl's cage with a towel on feeding day because she will throw herself at the glass repeatedly if she sees any motion and I worry about her hurting herself.

I also keep rats in the same room as my RTB, actually they are within 5ft of eachother. I mostly just make sure she cant see the rats. She would watch the movement all day. My RTB is very eager to strike at anything that moves :)

All my critters are in the same room, my big girl boa does get active when I'm warming thawed rats, across the hall.

Just put your feeders in the next town over and you should be fine, Jay;) Probably a good move not putting them in the same room. If I feed other animals in same room as my Adult boa I don't handle him for a day so the feeding response will go away lol.

LOL,,,, I know what you mean, mines move faster than a corn snake ready to strike a day or two after eating. Gotta love boas:D

Re: Boas and rats ...
One time I had some friends over and was showing them my female boa. I thought it was a good idea to walk down the hall past the rat room and nope. Got a bite right in the ribs through the shirt. I couldn't keep rats anywhere near her.
