My new pewter is not right. Help!!!!
Just got him at 2 this morning after overnight was delayed 16 hours.
He's has what is to believed a bite mark under his chin. He is also head and tail twitching, shakes, recoils if he touches anything, looks up like stargazing, but no corkscrewing. No signs of mites.

I'm freaking out here. Help is appreciated, breeder has been contacted.

If you send me an e-mail I can send pics and video right away, I will probably be up all night after pulling an all nighter last night waiting for him to arrive via speecial currier.

    Thanks everyone.steve4940@comcast.net

2am, how is that even possible all shipping companies are closed by 8pm.

But if delayed in heat, sounds like an overheated snake

Spasms are common with chemical exposure and overheated snakes. Something happened to the snake during shipment.

That was my first thought. Although another snake was received with this one. I'd think if there was chemical exposure both would be having issues. But like I told steve the pew may have been more susceptible, closer to the heat etc.

Poor baby, I am so sorry he is having trouble. Could it be neuro damage from overheating? I honestly don't know but I am praying he improves! Keep us updated please.

If you can, put him in his hide (if he fits with out you having to flatten him or anything) so he feels more secure. I hope the best for the snake but honestly who knows if he can recover from something neurological, if that is indeed the case.

It will need to see a vet no question to get blood work done. But Keep him no hotter that 88F right now.

Neurological damage from overheating is usually permanent but seen few that have gotten better with control but never got 100% better.

OP, if you put him on his back can he right him self up?

If hes up righting himself no problems, then its neurological. See how hes acting in a day or two if he calms down. If its still the same or worsens then take to vet for blood work and so on.

Where r u located? I know up here we recently had cool weather but recently its been about 80 during the day and cool at night. So if it was stuck in the warm weather with the heated box it could've gotten too hot.

They were scheduled to be delivered 10:30 am. But were delayed and only in Indiana at that time. Then they were left in memphis TN and were not suppost to ship until some time today.

I raised a stink and got them to expedite last night to new hampshire where a currier drove them up to vermont in his car, he arrived a little after 2 this morning.

What kind of heat pack was in the box? I had a friend recieve a snake some time ago that was kinda doing the same thing with the twitchin and after tests at the vet then a second vet oppinion it was concluded that it was a chemical in the heat pack the shipper used. The shipper had used some off brand hand warmers. Hand warmers heat up faster and can actually get hot enough to cause burns especially if there isnt enough oxygen. Both vets said that it was a result of overheating and exposure to the chemical in the hand warmer.

I haven't seen the video, but we had a snake that this happened to same as what you described, unfortunately he died. After necropsy we found out that his liver had failed. I hope this isn't the case, I don't know if this is treatable or not. Good luck with him though.

He ate yesterday and is showing signs of doing better, tongue flicking now. Less tremors and shaking.

I also know that the seller was contacted and they are trying to come to an agreement.
From what I have heard from Steve The little guy seems to be doing better but he is far off from perfect.
I think it's a great sign he ate. But what I told steve these tremors and twitches could be a very permanent thing. I hope he continues to recover to a point where he can live a healthy life.
