Little update on her. She is actually pushing 40lbs :O!

Thats awesome! What was her age/weight/length when you first got her?

so cool! mine is about a foot and a half, and the boy is only like 15 inches. i can't waaaaait unil they're that big!

She's incredible! I just got a four month old baby girl myself a couple days ago. I took her out of her tank for the first time since she arrived this evening just to check on how her shed is progressing and to make sure she was okay. :P She hasn't come out from under the hide (that I've been awake for) since she arrived. I couldn't resist taking her out to check on her for just a quick minute. So rewarding. Dumeril's are absolutely beautiful snakes. And yours is GORGEOUS! I hope my little girl grows up to be like your giant "cuddle" monster there.

I am not sure of her age as the people I got her from didn't know, but she was 14 lbs and ~6 1/2 ft when I got her.

Awh so cute!! Since I've got this girl I absolutely LOVE seeing little baby Dums. I can't help myself but to hold the hatchlings at the expos :P. Your going to really enjoy watching them grow :)!

We have a nice dumeril female 8 feet +!! Your girl is beautiful. It honestly amazes me your age with the collection you have and how well you take care of your reptiles. Keep up the awesomeness!! :D

Beautiful dumeril girl....

She is gorgeous. Is a dumeril a boa that one handler can safely manage for it's life time??

I would like to get one but am alone with providing their care.

I believe their docile nature makes them fairly simple to handle. It's an awesome way to get used to handling larger snakes as well. Even though she is quite heavy and a bit much for my size, I find her as easy to handle just as my other snakes are.

I haven't heard of a Dumeril's being a two-person handling job, but I would definitely see that would be the case if the specimen was growing to be 8 ft+. Fortunately, males do not reach the lengths that females do, so one person could feel comfortable handling an adult male without any assistance.

If you are interested, a male would be the way to go if you are worried about size. Dumeril's are slow growers, so it does take time for them (3+ years) to reach their adult lengths.

So you would suggest getting a baby and raising it up rather than buying an adult - just wondering

I wouldn't see why not, I purchased my first Dumeril's as a baby. But I definitely do not regret purchasing my big girl as an adult.

Sorry if this has been asked but what size enclosure are you using?

She looks really good Tiff! Everytime i see a pic of your girl it makes me want to get another big boa! Be happy to snake-sit her for 'ya anytime.... :D
