    Digital Scale for BP Weighing
I'm trying to find a good digital scale to weigh my animals with. I'm not trying to pay more than $50. So what are some good options to weigh everything from hatchlings to adults? What scales do you all use?

I use this one, may need to upgrade for large females though :)

That's pretty similar to what I use. For big girls I have a 6qt tub that I tare on The scale. Girls fit in it, balance it with the scale and it works well. No need to upgrade just get a bowl, or container the girls fit in.

I just wish I could find a way to weigh 4 foot long carpet pythons that are too noodle-y for a typical scale, but not heavy enough to use the "weigh-yourself-on-the-bathroom-scale-while-holding-snake-" trick.

You know...I just paid 20 dollars for one at wally world this past weekend. It goes up to 5000 grams. My only complaint is that the table is small...but I use a flower pot pan on top for weighing the big kids with no problems :) It even uses 1 lithium battery (included) which lasts longer than AA or AAA batts.

Could you put them in a pillow case? ( Put the pillow case on the scale tare it) Then put the snake in pillow case?

Or a container with a top. Tare both top and container, pop snake in. Boom A nosey snake can't go anywhere

Great suggestions! I was worried that the cheaper ones wouldn't work as well or wouldn't go up as high but it looks like they do! Thanks everyone!

I was looking for one about a month ago and was in the same boat as you. It seems if you buy them from any online reptile supply company your going to be paying at least $40 plus shipping. I just went to the local k-mart here and picked up a us postal scale for $25, it weighs in grams and handles up to 10 lbs i think, which is perfect for my collection. My bigger snakes don't fit on it so I set a 6 qt tub on the scale zero it out then place the bp in the tub. Works great at half the cost. I've also seen people use food scales

If you are not going to be selling snakes almost any scale that goes from 1 gram to 5000+ will do. Accuracy isn't critical but repeatability is. (if you place the same object on then off then back on it should weight the same with in .1 gm. If you were breeding I'd say an accurate one so a commercial shipping scale or something a little more accurate than a typical one. Personally I'd also get a small known weight to check it with too. But only if you are selling animals so when you tell someone it is 63gms it is correct.
