Got a question.
Hi all, I recently finally moved into my new place so i got both my BPs from my cusions house that where in 1 tank together. Now I seperated them as soon as I got into my new apartment, And I put hiding hides in the tanks, One snake is always in the hide, I open it up one day even played with the snake and bring it out for a walk he was well good then i put back in the tank and he runs right back into the hide and sins 2 days i bring him out he hasn't come back out what could this be ?
then on the other hand the other snake is sooo active i mean like right now as im on the computer hes trying to get out his tank going to the top and trying to push the lid up so hard that he shakes a bit meh the other night 4am i come to check on him and hes out his tank! lol he was in my underwear draw i had to clean all them what a naughty snake lol now i got something heavy on the lid but he still trys to get out always hes so active and sometimes in his hide but not always.

Constant roaming is stress. If they are still settling in the new setup give them 2 weeks. if still stressed then something is off.
Pictures will help

I am taking pictures right now, And going to upload right after.

How r u providing heat and how are you measuring the temps?
-
I've been providing heat from the lights, The black light I have in the tank where the snake isn't coming out of the hide has been giving off great amounts of heat as for the light with the green bulbs is also giving heat off that. I have those sticker measure temps and i heard they arent good tomorrow i have a computer job to do and going to make some side cash so im going to be buying stuff for both snakes like a thermometer and so on.
-
for the snake that keeps roaming his cage, you could try and black out three sides of his tank with black paper, aquarium back drops, or something like that. this will make him feel less like he is out in the open.
may help with stress levels. just a idea ;)

If this only happens at night, it's normal. If I go into my snake room in the middle of the night, they're ALL out wandering. It's pretty bizarre to see them all out and about...looks like they want to party!

see that blue light would i be able to put it in a tank maybe not right?
-
No dont put it in the tank, also get rid of te care fresh bedding. Its not good for reptiles, grows bacteria very fast and cause problems.
Its okay to use for display at shows but not on daily exposure.
-
alright so that pink bedding is no good? whats the best cheap affordable one i could pick up. i may not be able to get it till friday but i want to know for now.
-
Having light on the snake 24 7 will stress it out. I didnt know that when i first started and my boy didnt want to eat and was really stressed out. Heat pads work wonders. and no heat source (heat rock etc) in the cage. snake will burn itself
-
Papertowels is cheapest and best IMO
-
ya i know not to use heat rocks but for now till i get a UTH when should i have the lights on and lights off?
-
as for paper towels how would i use it do i cut them up into strips? or can i use newspaper?
-
I just buy paper towels and tare them as i need to fit the tubs. Lay it down 1-2 layers depending on your temps and youll be set.
-
Stop using lights. Get an under tank heater on a thermostat. Ball pythons do NOT need light and I agree on using paper towels as bedding. Just lay a few sheets down. Newspaper laid down in the same fashion also works.
Hope you aren't using the aquarium lid posted in your first pic anymore....

No ventilation and as you noticed, he can escape from it. A sliding screen lid works best.
-
he looks kinda big for that 10 gallon tank he might be restless cause he doesnt have enough room. they do like to hide but its good for them to be able to stretch out across the ground.
I don't have any pics of my set up right now Ill try to get some at home but a longer plastic tub works good. i got one from target for 12 dollars and its a 41qt. the side lock shut and I use to giant butterfly clips to hold the middles down. pretty much escape proof as well, and hold heat/humidity so well i never have to mess with it.
this is the exact one I got
http://www.target.com/p/Rubbermaid-L...t/-/A-12822857
gives him plenty of room to move about the ground you could get a taller one too.
i use aspen bedding from petco, the non colored kind. hold water good for 1-2 week between misting

if you need a cheaper but decent thermostat I have been using this one from amazon and it works awesome. keeps the heat withing 2 degrees of where you set it
http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...529750&sr=8-14
there are better more pricey thermostats if you wanna pay 100+ that would probably have a longer life span but if money is an issue this one works great for 1 UTH
