RBI 4 tub sweater box rack (32 quart)
Just got this rack... Have had a bunch of the cb70's from rich for years and love them.

Using a helix t-stat.... What temp are you guys and gals setting the temp at to achieve a 90 degree hot side on bottom tub?

Cant speak for the rack directly but would 1 setup not differ from another? Even using the same rack and tubs?

My rack for instance i have to keep at 107 to achieve 90 in the tubs.

Ok well so far in testing ( no snakes involved) it seems like full power on helix isn't cutting it (with probe taped to flex watt)... Moved probe an inch away from flex watt to see what happens there.

What do u mean its not doing it.. Excuse my ignorance.

    Ill give yah my setup..

Flexwatt routered into rack.. Herpstat probe in a routered groove under the flexwatt so sandwhiched between flet watt and malamine.. Tubs with slight raised bottom above.. Herpatat probe reads 107ish and infrared temp gun says plastic tub is 91ish. So a lil substrate on top gives me 88-90.

Im not following why you would move ur probe?

Because the helix maxes out at 110 degrees. The probe was attached to heat tape. With helix set at 110 degrees, so far the warm side of tub has not got to temp yet.

I just got that same rack 3 days ago. I have the probe directly on the heat tape, third slot down ( the one with the hole in the back) my thermostat ( Vivarium Electronics VE-200) is set to 110 degrees and I am getting about 91 on the hot spot. Hope that helps.

Email the man himself if it doesn't heat up right in a day or two. My hatchlings rack has the space between the tub and the flexwatt so set at 98 it took a few days for everything to heat up right.

    Oh makes more sense.

I have the same rack (older 3in felxwatt version) and I have my helix set to 105 to get the temps I want. I just got a new one at the last white plains show with a ve-200 thermostat. I'm still playing with it, but I am anticipating needing to put it in the 100-105 range to get a 90 hotspot with cypress mulch substrate. I believe that the need to set it so high is a combination of cool ambient room temps and the fact that the fexwatt doesn't touch the tub directly.

I forgot to clarify one important point... this is the one with 11'' flexwatt BACK heat....

I now have the helix probe taped on second shelf about 1 inch away from the flexwatt... with the helix set at 102 degrees it has the warm side of tub at about 90 degrees... so as long as that holds I guess I am good.

Good to hear.. I hate setting up a new rack.. Took me like 2 weeks of trial and error to get mine.. But now that its set its golden... So fricken pleases with my herpstat.. Un comparable to the dial type zoomed i had before running 6 tubs

I have His previous model with 3 inch belly heat (he use now 4 inch) and herpstat connected..
During summer and with temps around 80-83 degrees in room I had it set on 95 that give me 89 hot spot (top of 1-1.5 inch sani chips substrate) and around 84 cool side... Now temps drop outside so in my room as well...
With 73-75 degree in room now I run it on 102.5-105 degree and that give me 86 hot spot 78-79 cool side... I know that my supper sometimes is late with heating building so from my last winter experience i was running it few days on 115 degree...
    Hope that will help...:gj::gj::gj:

P.S You are in FL so if You have Your snake room on constant 77-78 degree... 97-99 on thermostat should do :gj:

Ok i am a little confused. Why are you putting the probe directlly on the heat tape. If im reading this correct you put it on the tape, set the helix at 110 to achieve 91 in the tub? I have vision racks and freedom breeders and every rack has one tub dedicated for the probe so i know exactly what to set it up at. I have the probe sitting over the heat side and my hot side of the tubs stay at 90 and cool side stays at 85.
