Of all of your snakes..........

Of all of your snakes, which is the best feeder? Which is the worst? Someone has claimed that they have found a morph connected with feeding habits and I wanted to see if there were any realism in the claim.

I will start with my female mojo as consistently being the best feeder in my collection. My worst feeder (consistently of course) being my female pastel.

My best is my male normal (go figure) and my WORST is my male pastel....although I do have a baby female normal that has refused every single meal for 5 weeks now <sigh> :tears:

best feeder would be a tie between my largest female whos a normal and my bumblebee mojave my worst would have to be my pied female who has not eaten in 5 months and shes 1100 grams

Both my female spiders and my female ghost have the best response they will all eat in shed and will always eat.. they even beg. Close second is my female lesser and het ghost, also my male butter is a pretty good feeder. My male Mojave has been the worst but finally is eating rats and F/T. My boys are much more calm about feeding only do it every week to 2 weeks. Now my male blood is a champion :)

Worst female mojo and one of my female lessers sometimes they'll grow out of it.

All of mine are pretty good feeders, but my ph caramel glow and my lemon pastel are ALWAYS looking for seconds. :P

My worst feeder has to be my pastel yellow belly. She went on a 2-2.5 month fast and she's only 350 grams. I finally got her to take a weaned rat last week. :banana:

All of mine eat f/t too.

All of mine eat well but my male spider is a beast. I will barely bring the thawed rodents into the reptile room and he will be smelling around for food.

My best feeders are my females, huge normals,my big Pinstripe,Enchi and my Cinnamon are all extremely agressive feeders. My worst would have to be my Pastel het Clown:(

Most of mine do pretty good on live rats. I hatched a male supe pastel this year and he is a beast. I offered a mouse the day he shed and he refused so I threw in a rat pup. He slammed it almost before it hit the floor of the tub. He has not refused since even in blue. When rats come in the room he is in the front of the tub waiting.

My best would be my male granite. He takes them almost as soon as they hit the tub. Followed very close by my big female normal. She seems to want a rat every time I walk in the room.
Both of my female pastels have yet to refuse a meal.

My worst is my mojo male and other normal female they usually both refuse a meal before taking one. Could also be that they are still getting use to the larger size.

My best feeder is an 06 Female Het Pied (Real garbage disposal live f/t/, as long as it's furry and warm it's all that matter to her) worse is a female Hypo who eats whenever she feel like it at 4 years she barely reached 1200 grams.

Ultimately nothing to do with the morph it just varies from one individual to another and the more snake you have the most likely you will be to have some real picky eater.

My best is my male pastel and female norm. My worst is my female spider. shes so finicky.

One of my female normals, my male fire, and male pastel are my most aggressive feeders. They slam their f/t rats the second they see them. :D

My spider girl is slacking, she used to be aggressive while growing and now she just wants me to quietly leave her f/t rat in her tub. lol

I don't think that their is a connection between feeding habits and morphs, but my best feeder is a Pastel het ghost girl. My worst feeder is a het pied girl, but her full sister is 4 times her size and a garbage disposal.:confused:

my best feeder is my baby Mojo... never hesitates with a meal. My worst is my Pastel male... hes gone on a food strike for a few months... now eats sporadically (tho at the moment hes doing good- being a very enthusiastic feeder... )

I don't think there's a connection between morph and feeding... but here at least its sex and feeding... girls are much better feeders then the males... (that includes my boas too...)

My best feeder is my super cinni woma. She will eat every day if I let her. The worse is my woma. She will eat once then not eat again for months. She drives me nuts...lol

So far I don't have a worst, they all eat everytime they are offered food. Out of the 6 I have though my female mojo is the very best she would eat every day if she had her way.

All my pastels eat like champs even while in blue. And my mojo female and lesser male. My spiders seem to eat almost ever meal as well.

I have trouble with my normals mostly. Go figure

Both my pastels eat like they will never see another rat. I have a normal that is 950 grams at 3.5 years old. She eats every 2-3 months.

My worst feeder hands down would be my male Orange Ghost, he only eats once every four to six weeks. He is still growing, so I'm not concerned. I also have a Female Pinstripe, that goes on hunger strikes for three to four months at a time.

My best feeder is my female piebald. She is about 1.5 years old and right around 1500 grams. She has only ever refused one meal. She will eat in shed, mice, rats, live, or f/t. Not picky at all.

My worst feeder is a female albino. She is about 2 years old and just under 1000 grams. She is extremely picky about when she eats. It really does not matter if I offer mice, rats, live, or f/t, she only eats when she feels like it. This one makes me wish I had ASFs available to me.

My best feeders are my male normal and female YB (both pound food consistently) and my worst is my male Pastel Hypo.

Looks like a lot of pastels on here aren't very good feeders, huh? Strange...

Our best feeders are a male spider, a female spider and a normal female. They are bottomless pits and will eat anything, anytime. A close second would be our pastel male. Worst feeder is one of our cinnamon males. He only eats once every 4-6 weeks. I really do not like him at all, he has been nothing but trouble and is a jerk.

We've never had a spider that wasn't a great eater for us. They also have the most personality in my opinion.

my best is a 2500 gram female normal and normal het albino girl. Worst but a long shot - my bumblebee male.

In my pair of bp's, my female normal (Petco snake) is very picky and her food has to be - mouse, white, dry, reheated to 105-110f and she still only eats 2 out of 3 meals.

My male pastel (TSK) will eat anything I give him, he would probably eat a brick if I sented it.

My Lessers and ghost have the strongest feeding response are my best feeders and eat every week without a miss. My Black Pastels are hit and miss but pretty regular. My het caramel albino's usually wont eat at all, my het male eats about every 3 weeks sometimes longer and Ive been force feeding the het caramel female for almost a year now, she is just recently starting to grab it on her own after I attempt to force feed. My het albino's, yellowbelly's, spiders, pastels, pinstripe, and Fires are pretty average regular feeders.

My best feeders are my female het pied and Darthie, who I'm not sure quite what he is--he's the guy in my avatar. Minnie came from a reputable breeder and arrived in excellent health. Darthie arrived looking as skinny as a garter snake. He's made up for it.

Worst feeder is a female mojave. She is very hit and miss and will only consider taking live rats.

My personal take on all of this, is that good eaters and poor eaters probably pass on their traits to their offspring. I sometimes get clutches of mainly picky eaters, and others where the babies all start up with no issues at all.

I hold back only good eaters for breeders, as a result. If a morph I want to hold back doesn't start eating right away, and eat whenever food is offered, I don't keep it, even if it's pretty. Best way to improve lines is to breed animals with the traits you want.

For the most part all of mine are very aggressive feeders. Most of them would eat everyday if I offered them food.

My female Het clown on the other hand eats once every 6-8 weeks and is growing very slowly.

My best feeder was my 07 pastel female but she has been surpassed by my 2010 pastel clown female who just hit 1100g at a year old. My worst is my 09 pastave female who eats when she feels like it and took 6 months off she is currently around 1000g...

'11 Albino: Taking rat pup every 3-5 days. She has not refused any meals. Slams anything given to her.
'11 Cinny: Taking rat pup every 3-5 days. She has not refused any either. Slams everything given to her.
'10 Piebald: Known for wanting two small rats, but only gets that if someone else doesn't eat. He won't eat in shed though.

'10 Albino: Only eats when she feels like it. Took a 3 month break recently. Didn't eat last week either. :p
'11 Bumblebee: Has refused everything so far. Will try again next week.
'10 Lesser: Wasn't eating properly sized meals for a while - he should have been getting small rats but only touched pups. Now that he's taking small rats, finally, he's getting bigger! Maybe his confidence needed a boost.
'10 Normal: She was only taking mice for a while. Augh! Finally she's on small rats and getting big, big, big!!

i really dont have a worst they all eat regular but the above two seem more enthusiastic about it(kinda prey, size,thawed,live they dont care as long as its food):D

My Best is my female cinny or female het caramel ( either will take food no matter what) my worst is hands down my male mojo.. he wont eat if it isnt alive and he prefers solid colors... yeah.. I hate it

Worst would have to be my 2008 Female Pastel.

My best feeders are my albinos! My male and his sister that is a year younger BOTH have yet to skip a meal. They even feed during shed.

I would say my second best feeder, despite this board noting that the pastels seem reluctant, is my female super pastel...maybe that is another "perk" of being so super :banana:.

My worst feeders, hand down are my het pieds. Frustratingly bad.:rage:

I have a male ball python and he has never refused a meal, hes still eating live hoppers one a week and he goes for the kill and eats the second he sees the mouse.

My best I will have to say is my female pastel, she eats like a beast! Thursday is feed day, when the water bowl comes out she knows the next thing in is her rat and it better be cause if it isn't it's get'n bit. My worst seems to be my male normal Hercules what makes him the worst is not that he doesnt eat it's that I can't get him to eat anything other than straight up LIVE.

My Second worst eater has to be Megarea my female normal she only wants to eat gerbils anything else isnt good enough for her. She will literally starve herself until she gets a gerbil.

As far as BPs go, our best feeder is a 2010 female pastel het hypo. She is voracious, and LITERALLY lunged out at me for food the moment I opened her tub once. She attacks and eats without hesitation, every time.
