ASF's are escape artists, so just keep that in mind.
I'd like to try a 1.4 to start, maybe 2 colonies after a while. I only have 4 BP's now.
Thanks

;) give it time.... and all those beautiful raised ridges too! You do have tons of play things for them, that's good, but when the population goes up so do the problems...
Keep them busy!
As for breeding, yes, they take forever to start... then you wish they'd stop!

I did not read all the replies but if you are just going to make 2 colonies then I would go with tanks. You will have plenty after they start breeding.
I would do 2 1.2's and use a 3 tank or tub for over flow.
I have found that even though some of mine start to become adults in the 3rd tank they will accept newbies when the cage has been thoroughly cleaned.

Degus are the worse, man, they can eventually chew through anything!
I have a pellet gun and a cat, and they both get plenty of use!
