    Egg Box Poll..
Ok so since the breeding season is coming up I need to get this clarified! What do you do and what do you feel is the best method for having egg boxes?? If your method is not on the poll please describe in comments. I know there is a method in this forum but I know not everyone follows it. Please tell me step by step what you do if your method is different!! A lot of people use:

6qt Sterilite Shoe Boxes.. I am using http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053 (do to the nice boxy style of the bin)
Question: should i put two holes in for circulation or keep it air tight??

Some people use the glad press n' seal..Do you??

Light diffuser??? (I am going to use this)

    Vermiculite and Perlite (Doesn't Matter)

The poll are some of the things I have seen, please let me know what you do and if you don't see your method or the materials you use please comment what you do!!! This will help a new python breeder! Thank you for your help it will not be taken for granted!!

We usually use glad style tupperware containers. No air holes, but I refresh the air as need and monitor them for any mold or such. We use vermiculite as a substrate. Enough water that it clumps, but not so much that it drips gobs of water when you squeeze it. So far we've had no problems whatsoever. We keep our incubator in a walk in closet, so light isn't an issue. It works for us, but any of those methods will work. Find what works best for you and stick with it. People make it out to be a lot harder than it has to be.

I use sterilite locking lid 7qt tubs with 2 holes towards the top on each long side of the tub.
Light diffuser panel over perlite that is drenched so water barely touches the bottom of the light diffuser.
    No seal a meal.

I prefer making the process simple and easy and let the tub breath while making sure the humidity stays about 90% to 95%.
I don't have to open a tub ever if I don't want to, at least not till I see pippers :P

The white panel under the eggs, that is the light diffuser panel, it covers the recessed ceiling lights in office buildings.

So you basically fill the perlite to the brim with water until the water touches the light diffuser?

I put about 2 inches or less of perlite and add water until it covers the perlite.
I then tilt the tub and drain off some of the excess water that build up in the corner and then place the light diffuser panel on the perlite.
As long as the water doesn't touch the eggs your golden.

6qt rubbermaid, no holes/regular lid, 1:1 water/vermiculite, eggs go right on top of the vermiculite. Then they sit in my DIY incubator for 56 days :)

Just how I do it. Ive never messed around with light diffuser, I've never had a problem without it so I don't see why I would add complications of having to lock eggs into their positions.

Press N Seal may or may not do the same thing as the regular bin lid. My bins close snugly and don't allow much airflow in or out so I stuck with the lids.

Tub with tight fitting lid, no holes, no press-n-seal, Hatch-Rite as a medium. Cut a couple small slots for the probe and thermometer wires. Open the tub once a week to check eggs and clear condensation from tub lid.

But what kind of incubator are you using?

Just finishing it! DIY incubator that says a nice even temperature please let me know what you think I should do! Ran by a herpstat, powered by 4' of heat 11" heat tape, water on the bottom to hold some warmth in when i open it and a small circulation fan to keep the temp inside with only a .5 F degree change. Haven't finished yet but when i do I am posting it on the DIY Forum!

This was my first year breeding, had 2 clutches, 12 eggs total, 100% hatch - eat !!

Mini fridge we made into an incubator will hold 8 clutches total. Small locking rubbermaids with hatchrite and light diffuser. Temps at 89-90 degrees. Little fan in incubator as well.

After 6 years of waiting a very exciting year for us!!!

Where do you purchase the light diffuser? Also what temp is recommended to be at while the tub full of eggs is in the incubator?

You can get light diffuser at home depot for about $12 for a 4x2 sheet.

You can incubate between 87 and 92, I incubate at about 89-90.

I place a light diffuser grid on the ledge in a HovaBator, and fill the water reservoir with water. I place the eggs directly on the grid. I don't use individual boxes for them.

Tubs, no holes, hatchrite (I will use something else when I run out of this), and a light diffuser. Simple :)

My first year, I used Hatchrite, no diffuser - though I bought a panel of it. It still sits in a corner un-used.

Every year after, I use straight Perlite, water added to be just barely moist to the touch.

I use Sterilite 7 quart locking tub, no ventilation holes. I've used Press & Seal previous years, but didn't this year, I didn't notice much difference. I open the tubs when I think about looking in on them, but I mostly ignore them until about 2 weeks before hatch date. I'll peek in about once every two weeks, and if I notice pre-mature dimpling of the eggs, I'll add about a TBS of water to each corner of the tub.

I have incubated at 89 degrees in past years but chose to incubate at 87 this year. I've had noticeably bigger babies by incubating a few degrees cooler and letting them bake a little slower.

I would like to say thanks to everyone. This winter will be my first year breeding and this really helps. I have one question. I have seen on youtube people using the cooler style and thought bout using this seeing as how I have a cooler available and some what limited funds. Do you guys recommend or no? Also if you don't recommend it is it still okay to use. I will only be producing one clutch this year unfortunately but next year I will be stepping it up ;) Thanks in advance. :) :):)

I have my reptibator set up it is keeping the temp at 89.1 so probably just use that. However, I just wanted to make sure incase I get to many eggs or anything. ( I am gonna breed a pair of beardeds and pair of balls this season)
