    All new owners....
I've seen a ton of new BP owners (like myself) on here as I've been roaming this site the last couple months and just wanted to pound in one more point just a little more...when they're out of their cage DON'T LET THEM OUT OF SIGHT FOR ONE SECOND!!!! As you handle them more & more, letting them explore around your bed, computer table, etc,, you'll naturally become a bit more relaxed about it and suddenly you've lost your snake. A week ago today I had my boy out roaming my computer table (which is fine....the worst that could happen there is he falls to the carpet, making a thud I always heard), but this time there was a chair next to the table. I saw him go to the chair but kept my eye on him. After watching him try to go off the back to the floor and give up because of the height I relaxed a bit figuring he had no way off. I kept glancing over every few seconds and everything looked fine, then he was gone. I'd say within 5 seconds he'd gone from me lookin right at him to where I tore apart my room only to come up empty. i've since looked in every possible place imaginable and still havent found him, and this has been one of the most god-awful weeks I've been through emotionally (and I've had my share). So please, save yourself the torment (and possibly your snakes life) and keep a close eye on em.

I searched on the forum and tried pretty much everything I saw. I have a warm hide with a mouse in a clear container (lotsa holes punched in) near it that I'm moving to different places every night, but no luck yet. Starting to lose hope cuz he's still a little guy at 89 grams (2 weeks today was his last meal)...still lookin thou.

Do you have air vents on the floor or on the ceiling?

Have you looked inside ur furniture?

I wish you luck finding him …….. and I will go a bit further in saying be careful watching them even in front of you ….it took me 2 hours one time about 2 years ago to get my normal untangled out of a laundry hamper(one of the plastic ones with all the holes in it) talk about a pain in the rear … every time I got him out of one hole he would get in another until I just said forget it and basically cut the hamper all open

Sucks to hear you lost him. When I have my guy out he never leaves my sight. I treat him as a child and know that if you turn your back for one second they could be gone or into something they are not suppose to. ( And I don't even have kids, lmao). Good luck finding him though.

Good luck finding him. I've had a couple of escapes over the years and I never did find my black milk snake. He was young and I made the stupid mistake of forgetting to put the clips on the side of his tub one day. I didn't realize it until I went to feed and couldn't find him in the aspen. Didn't think anything of it because he was always buried in it so I rarely saw him from the outside of the tub.
Since then I've been super cautious and have changed my caging up a bit as well. I even keep my eye on my largest snake (BCI) and he would be much harder to lose.
Again, I really hope you find him as I know how nerve racking it is.

Could he possibly crawl into your pc, even a desk drawer, odds are he will get hungry and venture out... good luck finding him tho, hopefully he didn't get outside.

I was once hanging out with my normal male while making chili. I needed to let the dog out, it was cold outside so I put him in my sweatshirt on the table. I realized it was time to stir the chili. Before I knew it somehow 15 minutes had gone by. I looked over at the table and started freaking out.

I love cats because they always find missing creatures for you. He was found unharmed around 2 hours later. Man was that stressful!

    Thx everybody.

It's a tremendous relief that theres no more worrying, and kind of odd not to have to run around the house checking 20 different place as soon as I get up....so nice to wake up and see him pokin his head out of his hide.

Funny story....I had a mouse the whole time he was gone and had him in the snake tank at first (which gave me an extreme hatred of this mouse...enough so that my samurai sword was gonna be involved in dispatching of him should Lemmy not be found), then had my genius idea to put him in the plastic container (which doesn't work btw). Well after him being in there for prob 4 days stewing in his waste I tried feeding him said mouse. Well after a few minutes of basically shoving the mouse in front of him he struck and killed the mouse, but when he got everything in line he put his mouth over his face he turns away, crawls away to his water bowl and proceed to take by far the longest drink I'd ever seen him take (easily over 10 seconds). After that the dead mouse drew 0 interest from my snake and was eventually tossed. Guess he didn't like the taste, lol. He satisfied my blood lust and will get a fresh mouse today.
