    Opinions please. Pewters or Sterlings..........
I'm not quite sure if these are Pewters or Sterlings. They are from Pewter het Pied X Pastel het Pied and they are super light compared to other Pewters and Pewter het Pieds we've produced before. This would make about 7 or 8 Pewter het Pied clutches for us in the last 4 years...given these are only 66% pos. het and it's pretty obvious the numbers are right with this clutch. Any opinions on whether these are sterlings or pewters?

I would put money on the cinny being the non het and the other two being the 100% hets....even though they can't be labeled as such. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks for looking.

I would guess sterling for sure, but I wouldn't be so sure about you having 2 100% hets and one not, remember, those odds are PER EGG!

Yes Jessica you are right. But I've hatched out enough Cinny het Pied and Pewter het Pieds to know which ones are which. ;) The pied gene does interesting things to other morphs even in het form.....for those that don't believe in het pied markers.

Notice anything with them? I'm not the only one to catch on to this.
And here are a couple of others just for fun.

Pewter Pied. She's a 2010 and already near 1200 grams. I hope my Enchi pos het Pied is ready by winter.

And since I've never hatched sterlings, thank you for your input. It is very appreciated.

I'd think those were sterlings much lighter than pewters usually look. Especially since you have hit pewter het pieds before (Before you said that I was thinking about how het pied can make animals look so different).

Thank you all. The super "camo" is the result of pewter het pied bred back to his pewter mom. We have 7 eggs from her incubating from other breedings this year but we plan on repeating the pewter x pewter pairing again this season. It would be even more "super" if the camo look was reproducible but we aren't counting on it.;)

    Thanks again everyone!

Yeah, under normal circumstances, those would be sterlings for sure. But having seen what the het pied gene does to your cinnies and pewters, who knows.

So I haven't seen that gray and silver thing updated in a while. Is that what you think it is now, a super pewter het pied? MAN. It was hot when it hatched, but it's AMAZING now.

I'm pretty convinced they are Sterlings. Having hatched out so many pewter het pieds, it's pretty easy to see. I just wanted other opinions before I could call them Sterling for sure.

The Super is just that.....a Super pos. het Pied. I think the Pied gene may be expressing itself in het form but I won't know for sure until I breed him this season. He is the offspring of pewter het Pied x pewter. The mother is what started my pewter pied project and looks a little different than most pewters...even those I've hatched. She is extreme to say the least. Now to add the Enchi gene to the mix....:)

THAT will make some NICE Pied stuff when combined with your Pewter stock...

Those Sterlings are STUNNING, congrats! Of course, the Super is jaw dropping.
