    My BP hurt my feelings
I don't know if it's just bc it was the first time that it's happened to me or that I'm pregnant. But when my BP refused food the other day for the first time since I've had her and acted like she was ignoring me (though I know she's not, I don't think she has the mental capacity to do so) and won't even look at me, my feelings were hurt. Like I was complaining to my bf about it and the entire time he was looking at me like I had another head. Anyone else ever go through this or similar feelings that you know you shouldn't feel? lol, thanks.

    LOL?

No sorry can't say that I've ever felt like this. Congrats on being pregnant though :gj:
And good luck on future feedings.

If it makes you feel any better by BP's want nothing to do with me. Their always trying to escape under the bed, or into the couch - like my company isn't good enough. Ingrates!!

Congratulations on the upcoming child. Your BP didn't mean to hurt your feeling :) Put it down to your swinging hormones.

Nope, she doesn't have the mental capacity to choose to ignore you. Could she ignore you? Of course she could. But not as in "I'm going to show her, I'm going to ignore her" type of way.

She's a snake. Something else caught her attention. And they're not going to eat each and every time we offer them food, especially since they get far more food with us in captivity then they do in their native habitat. They have to give their body a chance to catch up from time to time.

I'm sure that it's probably your pregnancy hormones that are making you feel all discombobulated about it. Congrats, by the way!

Congrats on your pregnancy may your child be blessed and healthy.

It would suck if bps really have feelings and can see us in that way.

I am going to add an other perspective. BPs run on 'auto' mode (instinct driven) and conscious mode. Auto mode is during feeding and mating and such once coiled even my most timid flighty girl can be picked up and moved to a new spot (out of her water dish) nobody home.

The conscious mode is what we speak of what you are talking about. When a snake fist arrives and is head shy timid tends to take defensive or offensive postures (balling partial balling or strike positions and maybe even a lunge) they see us as a predator or something to be afraid of. Somewhere along the line many become less afraid and there is a time of I'm going to keep a close eye on you and explore. They often will return to I think you are going to eat me position with many movements. The last stage is you are a tree and your movements and such are ignored as you are not a threat. Not all progress to all three but some do.

You might now be a warm pregnant tree (congrats BTW) and no longer pose any threat at all and the things around you are things to be explored.

Being a tree is a high compliment in snakey land. Dogs being pack animals becoming a pack is a natural event they need a pack to feel secure. A snake is instinctually afraid of large animals (us) and so it is a greater leap to be at ease with and around us of ten snakes I have 4 totally at ease with me and 3 careful but not overly so and 3 that if you move too much or are not quite still they will go defensive on you 2 of them are big time hissers too.

    Another perspective.
