How old do u think these are.
Got some asfs about a month ago. And they seem big enough to be breeding compared to the one month old colonies i just picked up.

Heres a pic. Thats a red big sized bic lighter in the middle to compare size. http://tapatalk.com/mu/461cf545-88a1-1790.jpg

Can you see the male's jewels hanging and how much do they weigh?

mine are all between 40-45g . males "jewels" are hanging. Still don't think any are preggo.

They are really close, some could be preggo. One of mine was and dropped 2-3 days after I noticed and another colony that is the same weight has started to do the deed.

As you have read asf's takes a little bit to get going but once you start to build colonies pretty soon you will be knee deep! I had two 1.3 and I held back 4 females from one and 1 male from the other that I made a colony (1.4) from them and just kept branching off and now I have way too many :O

Btw, don't know what you feed them but make sure you use something like Mazuri block. Their litters increased after using it compared to junk from petsmart or petco.

Male is 52g jewels hanging good. One female is 46g. Feeding 16 protein hog grower. Lab block is not available affordably anywhere close. And the breeders ive been dealing with have sugested hog grower.

Is there any sure fire way to tell if there prego?

Just when they start to look like pears! And for me the first few times I was shocked to hear them all of the sudden.

They are find to be left together, they will start breeding on their own when they're ready.
    I would say they're 2-3 months old.

Unfortunatly all rats alive are illegal here. Asfs. Just sneak by. Gerbiles are also illegal.

Where is here? Usually it's the other way around.

Every time I start to catch up, I turn around and find babies! And last night while cleaning cages I found a pregnant asf and 2 norways are ready to pop. I want to eventually narrow things down to a 1.1 asf colony and focus on Norways since I only have a Sand Boa that won't eat small rats.

Id love to raise rats. Better for my big breeder females. But here in alberta canada we are supposidly rat free. Wild and tame... Which is a giant pile of ball crap.. Not like the rats stop at the provincial borders and say.."nope thats alberta..were not allowed there"

And gerbils get lumped into something else and are also illegal. Still sold in lots of stores but technicaly its an offense to posses them.

Burms and retics are also a no go.. And there fairly strick on that one.
