BP knocking over the water dish

Is it normal for a BP to knock over their water dish on purpose? My girlfriend thought I was nuts for thinking it was on purpose until she caught him lifting the dish with his head. He has knocked it over 3 times in 4 days, twice in less than 2 hours. I have had the BP since x-mas and he has never done this before. Just curious if it's something I should be concerned about or is he just trying to be a pain in the butt? lol. I checked him for mites and it looks like he is clear. Any thoughts?

I have a couple of larger snakes that relish in tipping their bowls over, I think they even smile afterwards but I can't swear to it :P

Heavy ceramic bowls sometimes are the only way to help alleviate this issue, but even then most of them can be tipped if the snake is persistent.

X 2 or something with a wider base.

Ok, so I shouldn't be concerned then? I changed his dish to something heavier after the second time he knocked it over last night and he hasn't tried it again as far as I can tell. I swear my BP was smiling when I had to clean his tank for the second time yesterday :P

They only tip the water bowls over to make you pull your hair out. I'm convinced of this. I have a few bowl-tipping brats myself. I think they like to do it most when I've JUST gotten done cleaning all the bins so I'm tired and sweaty.

At least I don't currently have any that like rolling in their own poo.

I use the non tip dog and cat bowles. (all from either the dollar store or the fleet farm) :gj:

My boa loves to make a mess with the water. I got new bowls to stop her- it just slowed her down. She works at it until she succeeds. I gives her much joy and I swear she snickers at me when I find the mess. My BP isn't big enough to challenge his bowl yet but I know he will. There's some great joy in a mess well done:P

I use a heavy clear glass baking dish (Anchor Hocking)
there is no way it will get tipped over.
It is 5 quart size.

By the way, what is that "oily looking slime film" that I am noticing when I clean out the water dish ? Is she peeing in her water dish ?

Heavy dishes are good suggestions.

Does he have a hide? He might be tipping it over to look for a place to hide under.

Better bowls are one of my best investments. Get em'!

Yep, he has a hide. Wouldn't have done him much good to use the dish as a hide though, it was clear plastic and too small for him to fit under.

I think he must be just playing with me now.....I caught him trying to tip his new dish over about 30 minutes after I first posted my question. Thankfully I had already replaced the dish with a wide bottom ceramic dish. If he tips that one over I give up, lol

My female BP did this CONSTANTLY. Then I went out and baught a ceramic bowl, never happened again since.
