picked up a 2 year old female normal yesterday...
So i found her on craigslist for $40. She's about 2 years old. The guy i bought her from rescued her from a Reptile Society around here but hes going off to college so had to find a home for her. Im glad i found her in time before someone else did. She is 875 grams on empty. I was told she prefers mice of rats but i plan on changing that. She has eye caps so was wondering whats the best way to get them off....well here she is...

That's a beautiful girl you picked up!!! I have never delt with stuck eye caps personally but I would give her a nice soak and see if they come off that way. Hopefully someone with personal experience can help you more specifically though!!

thank you! i made the humidity a little higher just to see if she can get them off herself. If not im going to give her a nice soak.

so for retained eye caps a soak helps but if they are really on there get one of those rubber finger things for turning pages, it has little bumps all over it and after she soaks gently scrub off the eye caps with one of those (wetted) there are youtube videos from NERD also showing how to do it. My Lilly had that problem and worked like a charm just restrain her head she WILL not like it

It looks like the snake needs higher humidity, the eyes look cracked more than having retained eye caps?

    Yup, good catch!
Which with that being the case you definitely won't want to mess around with rubbing her eyes.

Remember, eyecaps are typically much more silvery-looking, whereas what we're seeing in your pics looks like normal (dark as opposed to the 'silvery sheen' seen with retained eyecaps) coloration but with perhaps a bit of a 'cracked' appearance, as has been mentioned.

It doesn't look like layers and layers of stuck eye caps. If it were me, I'd just provide her with proper humidity, and just feed her. It should come off on the next shed. I don't like messing with eyes.

i was looking at her and they are cracks. i can see the shed that is stuck on her eyes. So best thing is to leave it alone and let them come off on its own during the next shed. thank you guys for all the help. this is my first adult ball python. she is really a nice snake.

Nice pick up! I haven't dealt with eye caps either. I would say soak her and keep the humidity up.
