What do you think about her? (My first BP) (Kinda pic heavy)
    Hey BP.NET!
Today I went to reserve my Ball Python... Gave him a down payment of $70 for a Pinstripe, but he told me that if I later on changed my mind, he would give me $70 off of any other snake... Next week I'll pick her up! (He wants to make sure she is a Nice eater, she has eaten twice without issues, but he usually doesn't sell them before 3 meals)
    :D:D:cool::banana:

I really love how she looks, and she wasn't nippy at all...

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics!

As you can see she has a very nice reduced pattern! And she is a bit lighter than the pictures show her... AND WAY lighter than her sisters.
From 1 to 10, what grade would you give her?

BUT, as all of you know, Life isn't easy. He was offering a Pastel male (actually 2) that really caught my eye, and a Normal too (cute lil curious female <3).
    Pics of the Pastels:

He has a bit of orange and pink across his body (he has already shed once)

Which one will turn out nicer (out of the Pastels)?
The first one ALMOST made me forget about the Pin...

    COngrats on your new snake!!

Out of the pastels.. Its hard to see as the hue came out different on the last photo's but from what I can see I'd say the first one will probably keep his color better.

    Cheers.

But he also asked opinions on the pastels. Congrats, nice looking pin, and I personally wouldn't pick either of those pastels.:)

    Thanks!

Usually, how long does it take for a pastel to lose it's bright color and turn to ugly(imo) brown?

Why am I not seeing a picture of a pastel? Is there one? I only see 4 pictures of the pin.

they don't always, it depends on the parents. i've seen pastels hold their colors in adulthood. My pastel is 2 years old and when he sheds he's still pretty bright. IMO BP's are never as pretty as they are when they are babies. :)

IIRC, the parents are a normal and a Super Pastel... I think

Not that there is anything wrong with pastel males but I wouldn't spend my money and time with one. For a couple hundred dollars more you can buy a nice bumble bee or superpastel male and breed him to your female/s. It will take you about 3 years for that pin to be of age and size to breed.

If you saved $20 a month for next 2 years you can buy a REALLY nice and well started bumble bee or superpastel male. These guys will prove to be much more valuable in the long run as breeders versus a single gene pastel.

The female pin is a great looking. I'd definitely get her. :gj:

You better share pictures when you receive her.

a year or less and those pastels will start to brown out. you really want to look for as much yellow as possible when shoping for pastels. the orange is what changes to brown as the animal grows.

It depends on the pastel gene then. Take a look at what the parent pastel looks like and go from there. A poster above suggests that its the orange that browns out, I bought my pastels as adults so I can't attest to their growth:loss of color.

There's a video from Brian Gundy that I found on his youtube channel that shows a super pastel and a pastel in lock, so that you can get an idea. I'll PM the link to you as I am pretty sure its against the rules of the forum to post other peoples videos/ pictures without their permission.

    Regards

    Nice!
I think you'll end up happiest if you go with your 'gut instinct' and stick with the pinstripe, but that's just me. When it comes to picking out ball pythons it's tough to pick 'just' one since there's so many beauties out there---esp. when the wife only lets you have just one (hope you're not stuck in that boat too, lol).
