New females: H. mac, lividum, Burgandy Goliath Bird Eater
Got some new T's in today from Anastasia Haroldsen (net-bug.net). All of them are C/B and confirmed females (except the freebie wich is too small to sex yet). Sorry for the crappy pics but I am getting ready to go see the new Harry Potter movie and was in a rush. I will take better pics when they settle in :salute:
Theraphosa stirmi Female C/B (Burgandy Goliath Bird Eater, I am itching like crazy from upacking her. Very happy to get a big C/B confirmed female. Anastasia was even nice enough to send me the molt confirming she is a definite female.)

Heteroscodra maculata female (I like her A LOT)

Haplopelma lividum female C/B (SUPER defensive. The hardest to rehouse as she was adament on holding her ground and fighting me as opposed to running. But VERY beautiful)

Freebie Poecilotheria pederseni sling (VERY crappy pic but the best I could do with the time I had)

very nice pick ups :gj: has your h.lividum female started burrowing? i really like all of the haplopelma sp but am hesistant to get them as i've read that once they make their burrows, you don't see them anymore... :(

No she has not and she took the title of meanest/most defensive T I own - lol. Right now she is hiding behind/under fake plant leaves in her enclosure. I started a burrow for her so I am hoping she uses that to start her own. I am sure she is stressed now and once she settles in she makes her burrow. And yes, once they do make that burrow there is a good chance you sadly will not see them again but you will know they are happy at least  You might see the little blue legs at the entrance of the burrow though if your lucky. If you want a T that you can see I would say definitely don't get a lividum. Or get a bunch of T's you can see and then maybe it won't matter too much if you see it or not :D In all seriousness that is why I don't have to many burrowing T's as you pretty much are just feeding a hole after they settle in :P

That's actually what makes me iffy on getting burrowing species as well. I love a lot of them (heaven knows how much I love the Skeleton tarantulas Ephebopus murinus, cyanognathus and uatuman) but the fact that they're obligate burrowers that I'll likely never even see has kind of put me off of them a bit. Not so much because I have a huge need to see them but that if anything goes wrong with the enclosure, I'll have a hell of a time having to dig them up to rehouse them and such :/

LOL - It was based on size. She was not too happy being shipped and then rehoused but that was to be expected. She was not to bad though in all honesty. I am not quite sure how her temperment is in general yet but I would imagine she is more likely to kick hairs then to bite unless left with no other choice (but I can't confirm that). U hairs make me itch a lot and welt me up and with the Theraphosa's being the worse it makes me not want to bother her too much at all
