I'm in Richmond Virginia on the 24th floor of an office building. I can tell you that I thought the building was going to come down. It shook for a good half minute. Scary stuff.

Felt it in central WV. We were sitting at the bank in their waiting room, felt it quite clearly. Wiggled our chairs around, and made the tellers' monitors shake.
I hope everyone over that way is okay!

Yeah the colorado one was 5.3. From what's I've read, pentagon, white house, and capitol were evaced. JFK/washington national airports were closed.

Is that what that was? I thought it was just our washing machine going out of whack for a minute since it was going at the time. :D

that was...surreal. I'm in my apartment working and all of a sudden my large GTP cage starts to rattle (it's the only one with sliding doors). next thing I know it feels like my building is caving in on itself. never thought I'd have to move to dc to experience my first earthquake.

I was in Williamsburg for the day, and was driving when it happened. Didn't feel a thing, didn't notice anything, didn't even know there was an earthquake until my mom texted to ask if I was ok. I feel cheated! :P

I just got back to my house in Ashland, 30 miles from the epicenter, and nothing's even knocked off the shelves or anything. Considering the hubbub on the news, it's pretty anticlimactic.

Buildings around here don't have earthquake code like California, would be like Cali getting a major hurricane

Felt it here in Albany, NY. I was out on my deck and thought my dog was pushing up against the back of my chair then realized she wasn't. The deck was creaking and it felt like I was rolling...weird. My sister lives in Fairfax VA and a nephew works in DC, they said it really shook there. Another sister lives in Cary, NC and felt it as well.

I know right :D,.. when I logged on this morning I saw that it was a 5.8. I was like,.. that's not news, until I saw that it happened on the East Coast. I'll take a hurricane over an earthquake any day. But a quake on the East Coast is like having snow here in Vegas,.. everything shuts down.

Yea, well I think we are going to get both in 1 week. Earthquake today and Hurricane Irene may hit the Hampton Roads area on Saturday. Wish us luck here, hope that it turns out to sea. :please:
