Pics of mommy would help but it looks like a pastel with a crazy pattern. The kink may be connected to the pattern. It may be due to temp issues since others died in the incubator.

    Re: Help..what is this.
the kinked might cause by high temperature..i'll ask him for the mother(normal) picture..so far we just suspect it from the father(pastel) because that pastel's sibling including superpastel also have crazy pattern, but not like this..

We see it with the Bloods and Borneos

Really funky stuff hatches out and then dies or dies in the egg

If not could be incubation stress

Wow, that is insane! Hopefully it can live a comfortable life. I would tell your friend to keep that pastel male if you said it made some supers look different as well. I'd like to see pics of them if you have the chance.

I'd be interested to know what temperature he incubated at and what he was using to keep it constant. That's a wicked pattern. I can't help but suspect that it's influenced more by temperature than by genes though, considering the kinks and the dead sibling.

Ahhhh ok....that dad is def. not a normal. And these parents were wild caught??? Super cool blushing on the daddy. I really hope the baby survives and is a femaile. It would be very exciting to breed it back to the dad. At least that is what I would do. How did he incubate? Did he have a thermostat on it? I ask as I am wondering if this is incubation gone wrong or some kind of gentic thing.

Even if the baby lives, I would NOT breed it back or even attempt to because of the kinking.

Best case scenario, re-pair them next season and see if another one of these comes out, but without the kinks.

It is certainly interesting looking. Reminds me of an extreme example of what people call a Leopard pattern.

Rotten luck with the kinking. Are you going to try and keep it alive and see if it functions normally ?

you should just let the lil guy be and how he grows, the kink may or not cause any problems. i still think it had sometihng to do with the incubation. and as Gale said above you prolly shouldnt try breeding him.

in the pics the sire looks like a typical pastel and the dam looks like a normal, he should pair them up again and see if something like this guys pops out again. but make sure his incubation is spot on to prevent something like this. if a healthy oddball pops out again then hopefully its male and you can breed it back to mom and see what happens.

both parents are CB..and even the 'dad' also was produce by my pastel last year..so far,we still suspecting the incubation temp..

Ok im no expert but im going to throw in my 2 cents. The mother is a reduced pattern normal, the father is a pastel which looks like it has a granite spot in the back of his head. What if during incubation temps got a bit warm for a nite or cool, the baby was supposed to come out at as a pastel granite but temp..? n the granite freckles grew into a jaguar looking pattern???

    Either way amazing looking creature.

i think incubation temps is a little bit higher..anyways,my friend will breed the parent for the next season to see if anything like this come out again..
