hey south jersey guys

Where can i buy rat pups around here? I live in camden county. i want to start my BP on rat pups instead of mice. i know plenty of places to get mice and rats but i never see them with rat pups.

Where abouts? I go to Value Pet in Pensauken, and Gails in Mantua. Rat pups are always hit or miss because they grown so quickly.

The best place to get them is at a reptile show if you are looking for frozen ones. You can usually get rat pups for about $.80-$1.00each.....much cheaper than a pet store. There is a show coming up next weekend in Oaks, PA....about 30-45 min from South Jersey.

I have never been to Oaks only the Hamburg show and yes they have live pups there for <$1 never priced frozen.

What city in South Jersey? Precious Pets on the White Horse Pike in Somerdale usually has them. Monster Pets in Audubon does too. Bill's Wonderland of Pets on White Horse Pike in Magnolia sometimes does...

Where are the feeders at in Monster Pets and how much do they sell them for?

Just got back from Pet value and no rat pups, just "smalls" that to me are crawlers or weanlings whatever you want to call them. Pet values are 3.49 sm up to 5.49 for large.

Im waiting on my breeders to start kicking them out. It will be nice to have the size I want available.

I was going to precious pets before I moved now it's a bit of a hike...along with any other place I need to go

They keep their feeders in the back room, so you have to get an employee to help you. Go back to where they keep the puppies and there is a door with a doorbell right there. Ring the doorbell and someone will come help you. I don't know their prices off the top of my head. Definitely not as cheap as the shows, but cheaper than getting frozen from Petco or something. You could give them a call and ask about pricing. If I'm in Audubon at all today or tomorrow, I'll stop in there and check for you though.

i live in berlin. i just got my girl BP on wednesday and will be feeding her soon. ive been to bills and precious pets i must have not seen the rat pups. but i will definatly call all these places to see if they have any in thanx guys

I've never been to the Oaks show....was thinking about going next weekend. However, it is run by the same people who do the show in Reading and I did go to that one last month. It was a pretty good show. Lots of BP's. Not as big as Hamburg or White Plains...but that is probably an unfair comparison.

To the OP....I have to offer a word of warning about Bills Wonderland of Pets. The ONLY time I bought a live rat from there, it infested my BP with mites. I am not gonna bash them....maybe it was only a freak occurence, but I felt that I must warn you about my experience. On the other hand, I have bought live rats from Precious Pets in Somerdale several times with no problems.

BTW....Precious Pets usually gets their live feeder shipments in on Thursdays, so if you go on a Thursday afternoon you will probably be able to find what you are looking for. Its not overly far from Berlin either. Good luck sir.

I second precious pets!!! Especially if I was in Berlin. Good selection of any supplies you might need right away and prices that are comparable to any other store around.

I usually go to Precious Pets for mine too, but go to Monster Pets when I'm in that area out of convenience. I live halfway between the two, so either is convenient for me.

If you go to Precious Pets, they usually have their rat pups in a tank on a different shelf from the rest of the feeders. Look on the wire shelf to the right of their feeder tanks...

I want to say it's like $1.99 for a live rat pup at Monster Pets. That's about what they run at all the little shops around here.

I haven't had a problem with feeders from Bill's, so that must have been a fluke occurrence. I'm not a big fan of that place because of an experience I had when shopping for a cat collar. I was looking for a cool looking cat collar and was looking at some they have for small dogs and the employee threw me serious attitude telling me I CAN'T use a puppy collar for a cat because it WILL get stuck on something and kill my cat. All of my cats before break-away collars did just fine, but she basically refused to sell me a collar that wasn't break-away.... So, I take my business elsewhere whenever possible...
