Will the boob hatch okay?
I have a clutch currently incubating (mojave or pastel x normal), and it consists of 4 perfect eggs and 1 small "boob" egg. They're now 3 weeks into incubation, and so far it's looking good... shows good veins, no mold, and I think I even saw a little movement in there. Whaddya think? Is he/she going to hatch okay, and if so, will it most likely be a tiny snake?
P.S. The other eggs look great too, with strong veins and slight movements. One has flattened slightly, since it's at the top of the pyramid, and thus not getting much substrate - but not flat enough to be worried.
Here's the boobie...

Should be fine, but can you post pics with the light on :)

And here's a pic of the flat-ish egg, which has some nice BIG veins... and call me crazy, but doesn't that shadow under the pen-mark look like an alien fetus? Creeeeeepy. :O

While candling it, or just a straight photo of the egg?

I think they meant just normal, but from the pics looks like you have some decent veins in there. 3 weeks in it prob would have gone bad by now, I say you still have a good chance with that one :)

Hi,
I think it's going to be fine.

Thanks! Glad to hear it looks promising, and I'll let you know how it goes... should I expect a smaller than average snake?

Hi,
Yes they usually will be smaller.

So long as the 'boob' end doesn't get badly infected by something that manages to drill through to the fetus, and the fetus has a large enough yolk to carry it through to maturity, it should hatch out just fine. Probably have to start it on fuzzy mice. :)

Thanks guys! I candled them again last night, and everything still looks great... serious movement in every egg now, so they're becoming real snakelets already. I can't wait to see them hatch!! Only, what - 28 days to go?

P.S. I actually like the idea of a tiny baby, as long as he/she is healthy. I had a runt hatch out last year, who also refused food for the first 8 weeks... fell in love with him along the way, and he's now a permanent (and consistently feeding) member of my collection. I didn't need a normal male, but Snug is just TOO cute for words!
Here's a recent picture of him & his sister (same clutch), so you get an idea of how tiny he still is...

Dont know much, but I can feel your suspense. I cant wait to get a clutch.... dont even have adult animals yet

Hi Lolo :-)
Your eggs look great! Don`t envy You that wait, tho. Mine have 10 days left & I am candling them daily looking for Bee patterns...LOL. I am SO impatient.

LOL... it really is a fun process to watch! I bred my first clutch last summer, and the wait was almost unbearable (from laying to hatching). Seems to be going a bit faster this year, and I'm definitely not bothering or obsessing over them as much - so I guess it gets less stressful & anxious with experience. Still can't wait to see them, though. ;)

I feel ya! And I envy YOU, as I only wish they were that close to hatching... also jealous that you're expecting bees, as mine are just boring ol' Mojaves (possibly pastels). :P

Most likely it will if you know what you're doing.

Well, I'm hardly an expert, as this is only my second clutch... but I am a fast learner! ;) Still looking fine, though, so I'm pretty confident the little boobie will hatch okay.
