The tell will be the price.. what did you pay for it?? and who did you get it from?
-
I doubt the three people telling you it looks like a leopard are actually breeding leopard spiders and know what they look like...
That isn't a leopard spider. Just wait.. You'll get someone here who is actually breeding and selling those who will verify that. They look nothing like that. That looks like a regular ol spider.
And yes.. There is about a 2.5Kprice difference..
-
Could they have meant the parents were a spider and a leopard het hypo? That's a spider for sure in my eyes!
-
Like i said, its not a leopard spider and the $150 you paid should tell you that.
Leopard spiders stick out like sore thumbs when they hatch

Re: Spider x Leopard?
I didnt just pay $150 i did a trade also and Joe ellis who is selling a spider x leopard on fauna right now said it looks like a leopard spider to him
-
I'll believe that when Joe comes here and verifies that he said that. I've seen his Leo spiders..

Re: Spider x Leopard?
Alright well hopefully he sees this

I have produced Leopard Spiders and the one thing I can say is that they have no white or almost no white. The Black is Super Black and they have a certain look (in person). I can say the spider pictured looks low white... is it a Leopard?? Well if there was a Leopard from the same clutch it could be..... or could not be..... There is only one way to find out, which was my answer to John's question. Breed it out and you will know what you have.... Here is a picture of some of my Leopard Spider.

Re: Spider x Leopard?
Thanks for replying Joe yeah the pattern just looks nothing like yours soo thats why i was soo iffy but the black on its head is VERY dark with low white and there was a leopard in the clutch soo i guess the plan is too breed it and see what comes out

And they are all covered in polkadots and have a very busy pattern Joe.
We've all seen low white, no white, high white, striped, reduced, busy, aberrant, etc.. But none that look like those leopard spiders.
I think this guy got had. If he traded 2.5K worth of snakes for that spider he better pray it proves out.

spider leopard ?
I sold Josh the snake..I bought, a few years back a very busy pattern female and last season she threw a males that looks just like her same pattern. And this season I breed a spider het hypo to her. The snake Josh bought was not labled as a leopard spider, It was in a tub with the sibling male from the previous year and a normal female clutch mate from this season. the only price on the tub as normal female $25...Josh approached my table as other had just left that do have leopards and pointed out ot me what i had. I told Josh he wasnt for sale. But, he seamed like a egger person that actually cares about the snakes so, I sold it to him at the price of $150 and told him to prove it out. (Not the $2500 in trade Foschi states) I did not take advantage of him nor the situation. If you think price determins if it is what it is your sadly Wrong....

Thanks Kevin..it's always good to hear both sides of the story..

I didn't state he traded that much for the snake. I was stating what an actual Leo spider is going for and what he would have paid/traded for it if that's what it was. If you read back, you will see that.. You will also see that Josh never told us what he traded. Only that he paid a certain amount plus trades..
The entire point is to prevent someone from stating they have something that they do not before it's proven.
-
trade?
but there was no trade...No one said this is what it is...I surely didnt ..i said it needed to be proven. Ive been doing this way to long to take miss lable something.

According to this quote from above... Josh said it.. Which is why I said what I said.. So don't get upset at us. Some of us came on here to answer this post because Josh was making it seem like he was told it was definitely a spider leopard. On more than just this forum. Also using other breeders names. So naturally, people want to be sure of all the facts and give opinions on the animal in question..
I do appreciate you coming here and explaining the sale.

Re: Spider x Leopard?
one problem is blanket statements like yours about doubting that 3 people even knew what they were looking at. So many people like to chime in with misinformation and this is how rumors start... No issues with you or anyone whom posted...

Well I guess its fair that you had to find something about my statements to pick apart since I pointed out the quote about the "trade" statement when you said no trade was made. I find it odd that it wouldn't bother you a customer would lie about that..
-
never said it didnt bother me....
-
Kevin's a good guy and that's a sweet looking spider...Leopard or not...:gj: Breed it and see what pops out!
-
I don't doubt the seller is a good guy. I think it's good he came here to clear some things up. I also think the OP got a little carried away. It's never good to twist what people tell you or add things into it. Bottom line is, with no proven bloodlines as if yet, that spider needs to be bred to see if it's anything other than a spider.

Re: Spider x Leopard?
I meant a trade as in the exchange for table spaces at my show i never said i traded for snakes you all assumed that soo i did not lie and Kevin said 2 of his friends said it had leopard in it soo i posted this too see what other people thought did mean for it to get this carried away sorry Kevin

Thank you Shawn. Those are some more wonderful examples of spider leopards. They are definitely obvious without a doubt.
