Not eating for over a year....until this past April...
I had Humperdink on and off for the past 15 years and she was always na eater. About 2 yrs ago she stopped eating. I did all I could to get her healthy including shots and a new tank but still I was always taking the rats back, luckily they took them back. Then in November the original owner snake-napped her for 6 months and she still hadn't eatin' much. Then in April I got her back and at first she had a bad shed but she started eating. Now she takes down live large rats weekly and is doing great. I'm still waiting for her to shed again and I keep her in perfect temps and humidity as well.
It's amazing how she has recovered and I think it is because she has realized how good she has it in my care.:D

    Hi,

It's such a relief when they start eating after a fast.

I only ever feed mine small rats - it seems to cut down on the number of fasts they go on for me.

I guess they never feel stuffed enough they think they need to go on a diet. :P

Good point! I find mine eat steadier on multiple smaller rats than a huge rat.

    :O
    This is a first!!!
I had her chillin' around my waist while I was posting earlier and all of a sudden I felt something wet on my back... She pissed the most I've ever seen her do in my life of owning her. She has never done that while being held...??? Soae ked down two cushions on the couch all the way to the springs.:O
I'm not mad that she did that but it was very unlike her, although it could have been poo instead of white chunks and liquid, then that would have really sucked.
Anyway she' back in her house and chillin'.

BTW she is about 5' long and thick, now that she's eating so much.:snake:

When I first got Humperdink back I started off with small rats, I paced her consumption due to her not eating for such a long time. Then up'ed the size as I could tell she was always searching for more. I'm not one of those that just keeps feeding my snake to get her as big as possible, after over 15 yrs I know what she needs.

BTW I'm glad I found this site, any advice from other herps on care is always good to know.:)

Hello, and :welcome: to BP.net. Congrats on getting her back to health, but you better get some good upholstery cleaner for the couch. That's gonna smell...

Same situation here. If I feed him a big rat, he will go to about three weeks before taking in the next one. Would every week with smaller rats be better?

Already pulled the covers off the cushions and washed them, in the dryer now.

Man it was alot of piss, it's all good though.
I remember when I had my Spec king, which was wild< he used to always do that. But she never has, I guess I just picked the wrong time to have her chill with me. At least I don't have to clean her cage..

    How big is your's?
I wouldn't feed mine large rats if I thought she couldn't handle them. She takes them down like nothing!
