Direction To go Pied or Clown !!!!

Now I am not in this hobby to make loads of money, saying that I have noticed the diff in prices for a male pied and a male clown. I also plan on picking up a bigger (prefer) proven het. I just dont know which route to go. The clown combos seem more rare than the pieds but there is something about the pieds that is just sick !! Let me know what you think or which way u would go ??

That sure is all about personal preferance. Look to future breedings and see what you would like to make out of the morphs. But I have to say my first morph was a pied and i love everything about them. I havnt looked into clowns much so maybe im a little biased. :P

I say get a pied het clown and a clown het pied ... breed em together and then hopefully you can get clown pieds O.O

I kinda like that clown pieds idea.. but .. decide what you like.. go from there.. it DOES seem that pieds are more common..

Love that idea....I'm on my way to that. I have both het pairs, and was able to breed the het pied pair this year and am waiting for the clutch to hatch.

But again it is personal preference. What do you like the most??? It dosne't matter what's more common or not to see. It's what you want ;)

There is more to do (that is worthwhile) with clown projects IMO.

That's what I was thinking but as for personally I like pieds a little more

It's up to you. Remember, you're the one that's going to have to look at this animal for the next however many years, might as well get something you like.

Get what YOU like and what YOU are most interested/excited to work with.

If you like both and cannot finance both right now, chose one which will help you finance the second one.

You can't go wring with either one and I would get both if I were you.

Clowns all the way...Best recessive trait around.

Both morph have great potential... i believe pied trait is more exploited by breeders and more popular and because of that cheaper... with clowns is still a lot to do but because of that clown project will be more expansive...

As MY personal taste I'll go with clowns if I could afford them :(

I think both are fantastic. People LOVE pieds---so pied production has really jumped in the last few years. The prices haven't dropped as much as you'd expect, given the level of overproduction, because more pieds means more pied buyers. And more pieds means more pied projects, and pied combos are hot sauce.

That doesn't mean that there aren't exciting clown projects---just that nobody's done them yet.

I think you'll be sitting pretty either way. I think if I were getting into it RIGHT NOW, I'd go clown, not pied? But that's easy to say now after I've already acquired FOUR PIEDS.

It seems like whenever someone says clown you say something about a pied to counteract it. seems to me like you want a pied.

Go with what you like. If you like pieds better, then get pieds.

For me, the big kicker is when I look at the relative combos:

I like clowns and pieds just about the same. However, I much prefer a super pastel clown to a super pastel pied. Just my personal preference and taste. If I want a snake with large white blotches, the rest of the snake's coloration and pattern become unimportant.

Pieds are soooo common. I would get into a clown project if I were you but HEY, I ACTUALLY AM GETTING INTO A CLOWN PROJECT! LOL. Good luck with your decision :)

I say skip the pied, skip the clown, buy 1.1 100% het lavender albino's from a reputable breeder and go for lavender albinos in 2 1/2 - 3 years.

I bought my 1.1 hets in 2009. I bred the female late 2010. She has eaten very well for me and produced 6 eggs. I know i've pushed her a bit but hey.. she's doing very well nowadays just a tad bit on the small side.

I think you can get your 1.1 pair of 100% hets for the same price as a visual female clown.

I'm working on pied combos...lots of unexplored potential IMO. But, why? Because I LIKE looking at pieds in my racks and will continue to enjoy them for the next 10, 15, 20+ years!

Would I like to look at some clowns in my racks?...heck yes! Is there a lot of unexplored potential?...heck yes!

You will see many new clown combos and combo hets hit the market next year...clown males are already about the same price as pied males...clowns are going to be JUST as common as pieds in a couple years (IMHO).

As has been said many times before, get what YOU want to look at!

Completely agree with that...personally I would get a visual Pied and a pair of Clown hets...I have no desire to get into any Pied projects, however I do want a visual Pied just because they're so freakin' awesome...:O
