White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
This is the White Tiger. It is not a brand new hatchling, it has been around for a bit. Frank Martin has hatched some as well.
It is NOT a super Desert. It is a Tiger (Desert x Enchi) bred to Mojave. Why would that make a White (Ivory) type snake? I don't know.
Enchi to Mojave makes Jigsaw, Desert to Mojave makes a beautiful Desert Mojave, so I really have no idea how this visual was created.
At first I was bummed. The white snakes don't do a lot for me. We didn't consider selling it, even as a male, because it was confusing, we wanted to see if someone else made one (like Frank), and just get a better understanding of what is at work there.
But in the last couple of days, I had a revelation. The fact that it is visually Ivory is not so important. It is what this animal can PRODUCE that is actually quite amazing.
This male bred to a Normal female, you could see these hatchlings:
Desert
Enchi
Mojave
Tiger (Desert x Enchi)
Jigsaw (Mojave x Enchi)
Desert Mojave
more White Tigers (Desert x Enchi x Mojave)
Breed this male to a Lesser, or even a Kingpin (Lesser x Pin) and the possibilities exponentially explode again.
I have a renewed appreciation for the genetics at play here. Pretty awesome!

I think this just goes to show us that BPs like to keep us guessing.
He's really cooling looking, but confusing.

JIgsaw is Mojave x pinstripe Not Enchi

Good catch Rich :gj:
To OP:
Actually I'm pretty Stunned looking at this... I'll never suspected that combination of 3 genes will make leucistic type of animal... Thank You for sharing this totally new info for me :gj::gj::gj:

Jigsaw is a mojo pin but yes these animals will always throw us surprises
-
You are right Rich, good catch : )
-
That's crazy.
But I'm more interested in that Black and White ball that you're teasing us with in your little bleeping ad on the side!! :angered: Be kind and share, please. :please:

You are the first one to ask : )
I can post about that separately...

Please do!
Also, I love the White Tiger. It's absolutely insane how those genetics work. Just when I thought I was getting the hang of it all, this threw me for a loop.
-
Major genetic power house! He oozes possibilities :salute:
-
Will a check for my sole be enough to cover it?!?!
J/k, I absolutely love tigers, and the possibilities with them are unreal!
Thanks for sharing!

Great to know, thanks for sharing.

Re: White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
Is this the only white tiger produced? Was the female a virgin or had she been bred before? Skeptical...

YES! Looking forward to it!

Skeptical? Me too, that is why we sat on them (two White Tiger males), to try and figure it out, perhaps we had made a mistake.
Then Frank Martin hatched some himself, same pairing, Tiger to Mojave.
Desert to Mojave made this:

and this in a previous clutch, although I am not sure why the striping happens, but it comes up with a number of Desert combos:

But why would adding Enchi to it create a white snake? Puzzling indeed, but with someone else getting the same result, I don't think a mistake or retained sperm was the cause.
I am super excited to breed the White Tiger to a variety of females this coming year!

Yes, your soul would cover the purchase of one of these White Tigers.
Oh nevermind, I see you were only joking.
Damn.

I'll sell my soul for one. Male or female, either one. When would you like payment?

Re: White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
Very interesting! Dumb question, but are you possitive that there wasn't Mojave in each of the parents? That head says Super Mojo to me. I would imagine you have already thought through all of these possibilities though.
-
fabulous!!! I knew enchi's were awesome.. but dang :D
-
Crazy! Thanks for sharing this with us, if anything I'm more excited when we get thrown a curveball like this than when something new gets hatched out like we expect it to look.
-
Wonder if a butter desert enchi would be a cleaner white. Send me a female tiger and I'll try it with my butter :) or a male, I have females now also.
-
Re: White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
That is a really cool looking combo in my humble op!

Exactly my thoughts. I would guess that the female is mojave and tiger is male. Wouldn't be uncommon for an adult female mojo to be bred to a male mojo some time in her life since BELs are so sought after. To know for sure, you would have to produce the morph using a virgin female and absolute surety of the male genetics.

I agree it looks like a Super mojo not an Ivory. Can't wait to see what comes out when you breed him Robin.

Re: White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
Can u put it under a black light?
-
it's called sperm retention.... from a previous breeding to a mojo male.

Except that apparently this same result has been duplicated by other breeders.

+1 I would love to see it under a blacklight!

Re: White Tiger- thinking about this Desert combo...
But breeding for a BEL is common and it is not unreasonable to assume that an older female breeder would have at some time been paired with another mojo. We need virgins to know for sure:gj:
