Wine?
I am a self-proclaimed wine connoisseur and I want to know if anyone out there has any suggestions?
Any specific wineries or vintages they want to share?
Bring it on, winos!! :)

I usually stick to anything red or white. I love it all!

Sorry, my wine adventures have been confined to homemade blackberry, lambrusco to wash down spaghetti, and Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill.

Ohh Heather You are so Fricking Lucky u live in California :D
Before i moved to US i wasn't big fan or red wines... Lucky for me my previous boss (restaurant owner) know a little bit about subject and I was lucky to discover wines like Shiraz or Red Zinfandel...
My favorite and affordable wines come from Michael~David Winery. They are located at 4580 West Highway 12 Lodi, CA 95242 :D
Link to they web Page: http://www.michaeldavidwinery.com/ :gj:
6th Sense Syrah or 7 deadly Zins Red Zinfandel are excellent entry level wine...
7 Heavenly Chardonay is ok but I was drinking better ones..
Earthquake collection is excellent series of wines with price circulating around 30$ per bottle... Those are my favorites especially Petite Sirah
They make Blended series o wines named from individual sins like Gluttony Lust when they Combine California grapes with grapes importet from Europe and South America... Never tried but sounds Interesting...
Another wine what i really liked from that winery is called Windmill Estate Old Vine Zinfandel... not to expansive and really good too...
I hope I'll have chance to visit California one day and this winery will be must place for visit for me :gj:

I love Porto, i don't care it's not a fancy wine, but MAN, fairly cheap (~$20 a bottle), great tasting (to my taste, obviously) and it's pretty hard (compared to many other wines)
But I can pass ALMOST any wine

Louis Jadot Beaujolais, it is the one wine that we always keep in the house.

I adore Barefoot's merlots. Just about everywhere carries it, and my local liquor store has it on sale occasionally. I stocked up when they had it for $5 a bottle. Familiar, affordable, and can compete with wines two to three times the price.
Glen Ellen cabernets are a staple for friday night steak dinner at the gf's parents' place.
I rarely ever spend more than $10 on a bottle of wine, and almost always have a super cheap (<$3 on sale) sweet red half-empty in the fridge as I cook with red wine all the time. Just today I was using some in a marinade for portabella burgers. Red wine, Worcestershire sauce, A-1 steak sauce, garlic powder, and any cooking oil.. yum.
If I want a nice wine, for about $20 or so, Benziger is great, and worth holding on to for a while to age. All of their reds are primo stuff at 6-8 years.
I'm really glad that the malbec grape is becoming more popular as a standalone for red wines. Some of the stuff coming out of South America these days is incredible.

Re: Wine?
I prefer sweet wines, Plum Loco from a vineyard in New Mexico is amazing if you like sweet wine. Moscatos are also great.

I love red wine. :P But if you are looking to explore, you should first know what your price range is. Then try anything and everything that you can, so you know what kinds of wine you like. There are all sorts of rules out there that people say you should drink wine with, but I think they are wrong. Usually, a wine label will give you pointers on what the wine tastes good with. That's a good place to start. For more information on different kinds of red wine, check out: http://www.redwinetourguide.com/types-of-red-wine.html :gj:

I cannot remember the name of the place, but it is just north of Grand Junction, Colorado. I think the towns name was Palisade. Anyway their wines were always pretty good. That's definitely a compliment coming from me as most wines are t bitter for my taste. I prefer Grey Goose.

A good Sauterne goes well with anything sweet.
Riestling is perfect with seafood.
and my favorite Monbazillac goes with everything
Obviously I am in to white wine ;)
