He did not say they are jags, he said they are jag SIBLINGS.. in other words, normals from a clutch where one of the parents was a jag sib.

In general, jag sibs are treated as coastals, so yeah they SHOULD look similar!

Not because I want to send the thread off topic, but more because I feel it needs to be addressed..

JungleCarpet81, who told you your snake is a coastal? Unless you got it from the breeder directly, it's quite possible that it is not labeled correctly, or is a subspecies intergrade (a mix of different subspecies, not just coastal). This has been a problem in the US, specifically because export of new blood out of Australia is illegal.

Unless you KNOW your snake is a pure coastal, it's a bad idea to label offspring from that snake (if you decide to breed it) as pure coastals.

If you have no intention of breeding it or selling it, you can call it whatever you want :D

I got it from someone else it was a craigslist buy...So if im not sure what it is what should I label it as just in case someone does want to buy it? and if i plan to breed it. ill come here with pictures of the eggs and the parents before i label and sell them as carpets they arent. Id never lie to gain money for snakes. so all help from the people here in the know is welcomed thank you!

As a previous poster mentioned, if you were going to sell it, it would be best to just put "unknown". As long as you accurately represent the snake, there should be no problems! Also, just cause' it's unknown lineage doesn't make it less of a snake. There are TON of nice looking carpets out there with an "unknown" lineage..............and there are a TON of supposed "known" lineage carpets that probably really aren't what people think they are. But that's another discussion for another day.............! :)
