Need to find Feeder Rat.

I have a 4 yr old Female ball python. she is only eating couple of times a year.. Med rat. I had a place on the sw side of town on bissionett. I live near hobby airport, but have no car.. I need a place close to me that I can ride a bike to to get a rat for my girl...LOL I will post pics ltr on.. she is 4 1/2 ft long.. and is handled daily.. but is now VERY HUNGRY...LOL PLZ help..:D

Looking forward to a picture. Sorry I couldn't help on a local place for rats. You'd probably end up calling every pet store in the area to find someplace local enough to ride a bike to.

You can also check craigslist and any local classifieds for rat breeders.

She's been like that for a couple of yrs now.. I have had her looked at and she is good health.. I have tried to feed her more often but she wont take it. She sheds and poops on a regular basis..no mites of respatory problems.. just not a big eater...Like I said before.. I handle her daily.. Kids love her to death.. even the neighborhood kids get a kick out of her.

Maybe post an ad on Craigslist and ask if someone could deliver the rats, or offer to pay for someone to deliver them.

But on another note, I would limit handling until you get her eating regularly. Getting her eating is more important than handling.

What is her set-up like?

She is in a 40 gal tank.. soggum moss for bedding.. has her hidy hole.. I have her an over head 60 watt lamp for light and turn it off every night.. temp mid 80's 70% humidity.. I have a water bowl in the tank for her...

Yeh cause theres no way she shouldnt eat more then that.. Do u have a dedicated hot and cold side? 80 on cold and 90 on hot. Seems maybe she doesnt like rats at all. If shez refusing that often.. Id suggest get somrthing into her for the mean time but work really hard on getting her regular. Asfs or something. I know bps fast on occasion but usually return to normal eating. Id think about maybe keeping some rats as feedet/pets so u can try weekly.

Your not going to like this.

But I think we have a pretty good idea of why your snake isn't eating very well.

Quite a lot is wrong or needs tweaking with the husbandry you just described. :(

Sorry to say. Esspecially if you have been doing what your doing for a long time.. Which it sounds like u have. But id focus number 1 on getting that snake to eat.. Keeping live rats or mice or asfs on hand might be what u need to do so that u can try continually.. Not just every 3-4 months

Im sorry to rag on you and this is more of a question anyways to the more knowledgeable of the bunch.. But if shes not eating.. What is she pooping?? Is it possible thoae neighbor kids r feeding her? Do u supervise any intereactions?

Again sorry for beating u up on this.. It just does not make any sense to me why she would eat like that and be so normal and healthy. For instance my female bp eats between 3-5 mice per week. And technically im under feeding her.. Pushing 8 when i can some weeks because thas whats she needs to get her 10% body weight per meal

She is pooping White balls. and to answer your question It is ONLY supervised outside intereations with the neighborhood kids.. I/e They only pet her she does not leave my sight, usally wrapped around my neck or arm only. Do you live in houston? perhaps a meet and greet?? help me figure this out? It's the snakes urine. It tends to be white balls. But can also contain liquid.

More accurately, it's hardened uric acid. They do in fact also urinate, expel urates and have normal excrement.
