First time'r eggs just dropped!! Advice!! Excited also!!!
YAHHHOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I knew all the hopes and hardwork and love would pay off!!!

So I didn't know if she was going to go, never saw the Ovy, however she shed roughly 26 days ago, went to check on her and TADDAAAA!! 4 beautiful eggs!

Anyways, since I wasn't expecting her to lay for 4 more days, the Inc hadn't been started. So I just started it, got an egg box ready, 1:1 ratio vermiculite to water by weight and put a probe in it. Right now its at 85 degrees in the tub, still warming up very slowly. I know the therm is set right on it, cause I had it going for a test run about a month ago. So it's just a matter of time for it to get to 89 degrees.

QUESTION IS: Do I let mama incubate until it is RIGHT at 89 degrees, or is it fine to put them in there right now and let them warm up with the box? I have a feeling I should just let her coil until the box is right at 89. Note: I temp gunned her and the eggs and she is around 87 to 89.

PICS! (1st is with flash, 2nd is without)

I was caught by surprise myself. I turned the incubator on, got the egg box together and then just put the eggs into the incubator. They should be fine. Have you tested your incubator to make sure it holds temps? I did a test run right after I got mine together to make sure it held around 88-89 degrees. And big congrats...what was she bred to?

Congrats on the eggs, it's an awesome feeling the first time you see a female with eggs.

I would let the incubator warm up awhile longer, it looks like she'll take fine care of them until then.
By morning the inc should be up to temperature I'd think and ready to rock and roll :gj:

Sounds good guys! I think I'll wait up as late as I can tonight and see what the probe reads. Then, if it's close I'll start bakin! :)

The Inc does hold temps very well. It was originally a comercial grade bird egg inc that has rotators, but I dissasembled them (obviously) lol. I got it from a dude off Craigslist. It also has a water resivor on the top shelf so it keeps up humidity well. If it looks as though any condensation starts to build in the box I will def get rid of it though.

AND LAST! She was bred to a Black Pastel, Pinstripe and Mojave :)

Very cool man, I know the feeling as my first clutch is in the oven now. The next couple months are going to seem hellishly long, sorry about that. Congratulations and good luck! :)

Congrats! I had my first clutch hatch June 7th! Just stick them in the inc and forget it! If you think about them all the time then it will go so slow! Of course you still have to check on them and check temps! Good luck!!!
