Pieds...ASTOUNDINGLY overrated.

I've said it before and just feel like saying it again...God, do I hate Pieds.

I cannot understand how people that LOATHE snakes will say "Ooh, I like that one!" when they see one of these magical Clorox Balls. I don't get why they're the most coveted snake in the world, when the gene by itself looks like a Ball Python that got puked on, and the combos all look EXACTLY the same with a different colored headspot. I basically ignore anything that is Pied related because I know I'll just once again be befuddled at their ridiculous popularity. And just as a disclaimer, no I'm not hating because I secretly want one so bad. I'm hating because they're butt-ugly. I will never let one of those little defective mutants anywhere near my collection.

Everybody have right to his/her own opinion... I like Pied Balls... but not because of white... but because of that crazy pattern they have...

The best Pied for me is a lowest white possible... like some ring in the middle of the body and white tip of tail :gj::gj::gj:

If i want White snake..... Lucys and Ivories all the way !!!

As strong negative feelings to certain morph... switch word pied to albino in Your post and that's exactly how I feel about albino morphs :rofl::rofl::rofl:

And I actually don't like Albinos either. I don't literally hate them the way I do Pieds, but they've just never caught my eye. And most of their combos end up looking like a cross between a banana and a turd. :P

They're one of my favourite morphs.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I wonder if everyone has a certain morph that they feel that way about...could be an interesting thread...I have the same sentiments towards albinos, and pieds both, I just can't comprehend the price they go for (pieds more so than albinos) I mean, there is no secret these days, and its not like there are none on the market...

I just happen to love pieds and albinos. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't think pinstripes are all that astounding but that is just my opinion.

I love pieds and albinos! There really aren't many morphs I don't like. To each his own...

I for one dont care that much for morphs except pied's. Just the right amount of white is perfect for me like Chandlers ^^^^

I feel the same way about Justin Bieber. There are a few morphs that I don't care for. Sadly though some of the morphs that I like have to have some of what I don't like to make them. Spotnose is a normal looking snake with a weird head pattern to me. But what is does to morphs is incredible. I have yet to get one but it is on my list of things to get. The same goes with yellowbellies. But i want an ivory and I like what they do when combined with other morphs. I do like pieds and albino's but that is just because when I was a young they were coming out in the market and they were the reason I got into snakes.

I'd spend money on a BEl before I would a pied. I also am not a fan of albinos. They tend to fade to much as adults from my experience and I hate a straight Easter yellow snake....just no appeal to me.

I don't plan on getting into pieds, but I don't necessarily dislike them: they're just overdone. I guess if you want to make money, you go into pieds. I personally don't like any morph that looks eerily similar to a normal. I'd just get a normal! Unfortunately some do amazing things with other morphs, that's true.

My biggest "HUH?" moment is when people see pied combos and think they are awesome, when half of the snake isn't even exhibiting those traits.

Yeah, I remember when the Albinos and Pieds sparked the whole Ball craze. They both never did anything for me back when I was a teenager either, I just remember being amazed at the prices they were going for. I had written off Ball Pythons altogether for like a decade...until I saw a Super Cinny. The amount of genetic experimentation that Balls allow for is too appealing. I can't imagine not working with them now.

Some of the most genetically usefull and highest priced BP's in the world look to me as though they have some form of hideous skin disease. :cool:

But some combo's will surprise you.

If you do not like the "white factor" of pieds look at the enchi pieds - and if you have seen some of the pics of an enchi albino ( I'm not a plain regular albino fan really ) with all the colour and flames I'm willing to bet I would go doolally over a super enchi albino pied.

Half?

With the exception of Pastel Pieds, (which still look like vomit, only brighter) it seems to me that every combo they produce is 99% white with only the head as the smudge that gives away what other genes got wasted by breeding them to Nature's bleach stain. :)

I am not a fan of Pied's, albinos, or coral. Does not mean i hate them by no means.

Now as for the Panda Pied, That is the only pied i would not mind having.

I love the high contrast of pieds, the mix of dark against white. Just kinda my thing :). I do like Albinos but they aren't my favorite (don't tell that to my Albino male, lol). When ever I show non-snake people my collection they do always ooh and aah at our albino and pied. The other, more subtle morphs get a "oh thats neat" or they just don't get it. As far as I'm concerned as long as pieds and albinos draw in attention (in a good way) to our hobby and get non-snake people interested in snakes then I'm happy. I wouldn't care WHAT morph they were drawn to. Some times a scaredy cat will actually pet or HOLD our pied then my job is done :D.

I like pieds and albinos I think I love all ball pythons because they r ball pythons lol but I don't really favor the spider ball python its beautiful and all but I don't favor the wobble they carry that's just my opinion and any morph that has spider in it I don't favor because of the wobble I would never buy one for my collection but they are very beautiful that's my two cents lol :)

The albino/axanthic/panda pied projects are the reason I started breeding initially.

Pieds aren't for everyone, but I bet those people are a tiny minority.

Haha, nope! Somehow my mind wandered off into if maybe breeding a Pied to my female G-Stripe would be something worth doing. Then I came to my senses and realized I would never want to ruin my G-Stripe babies.

Cool that they do draw the ignorant into giving snakes some kind of a chance at acceptance. That I can agree with.

I love pieds the only morph I really don't care for are g stripes.

See I feel like this about stupid morphs like specters, mystics and spotnose... They are just stupid normal balls that ppl make up stupid things about and charge an arm and a leg for.. At least with pieds they look visually different.

Eh, I can't say I'm a particular fan of most Spiders, their appeal is lost on me. I mean there are a handful of REALLY nice spiders, but most of them are just fair.

That being say, if you don't want responses like that, use tact. People are going to respond to you in similar fashion since you've set boundaries to the thread itself. Saying an animal looks like body waste isn't a way to get happy responses from people who do enjoy the animals.

Which like Spiders, to me, there are certain guidelines for a Pied to be attractive. I don't like high whites or low whites. Then you either have a white snake with a funky looking head (Would rather have a BEL) or a normal Ball Python that costs $700 plus. The medium Pieds are perfect and the only really nice Pied combo to me is a Pastel Pied (bright vomit for the win).

Ever since I was a little kid and I saw my first pied I had to have one. I've been lucky enough to own two in the past year. One was a low white pied maybe only 10-15% white and the juvi I have now that is about 40% white. I feel when they have more pattern to them then white they are more appealing to me esp if they have a really weird pattern to them or reduced. High white pied dont do much for me though. But there are plenty of morphs out there Im not a fan of.

I don't keep Piebalds at all actually. However it is in poor taste to completely dog on an entire project. What did everyone's grandmother say? "If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all".

Isn't our hobby great? I mean we have so many different morphs and combo's to choose from that we as keepers can pick and choose which ones we want to work with and the ones we don't. People don't like pieds or albino's or spiders or whatever, I say awesome I love that you know what you do and don't like, Good on ya.

Me personally I really like seeing a nice pied sitting in my tubs. There are morphs that I don't wish to get into just yet due to their lack of combo ability.

So for those people who don't like pieds I say that's fine I have enough of everything to go around.. LOL Joke Joke..

It's not your opinion that folks find insulting...it's the way you express it. You compare something most people find beautiful to "vomit" and imply that anyone who likes pieds must be stupid because only stupid people would like something so ugly.

It doesn't bother me one bit that you don't like pieds. I don't even care that you felt strongly enough about it to start a thread (although I agree with Jerhart wholeheartedly that I hope it doesn't start a new trend in thread topics) ....but if you insist on spewing insults about something that so many people love, then expect some of those people to be insulted by it.

You could have been less insulting in your pharsing. I couldn't care less if you dislike pieds. I don't like Coke-a-cola. I prefer Pepsi. Can't stand drinking coke, it tastes like it has ashes in it or something. But I'm not going to insult people who do like coke and dislike pepsi. I'm just happy I'll never get into an argument with them over who gets the last can of soda.

Some people think all morphs are mutant butt-ugly deformed snakes that should be frozen rather than allowed to live. Would you like to see that opinion posted in a few paragraphs describing how dumb anyone who could possibly want to KEEP one of those stupid deformities rather than a good normal? How they're ruining the species by breeding out the good regular healthy normals by even condoning the existence of the freaks?

I know I don't. I'd prefer to see a "I don't see the appeal, and I don't like them and I don't think they're pretty at all." Sure, I guess it's not against the rules to be nasty in describing your opinion. But then, that just opens the gates for anyone who responds to your thread to be just as "open" in expressing their opinions of YOUR opinion. SO when you whine about how people get all hurt over your opinion, remember that they're just telling you their own true feelings and opinions about your opinion.
