I am beginning to think my cinnamon pied project is over before it gets started. :sigh2:

The last thing on earth I want is to produce yet another all white pied with a colored head. :weirdface

I have been watching threads talking about cinnamon pieds in the hopes I'd find one that had body color as well, but so far I'm out of luck. :tears:

If anyone out there has produced a cinny pied that WASN'T all white with a colored head, please, please, please tell me. :please:

On a side note Tim: He really is a lovely snake, just not what I was wanting my own cinnamon pieds to look like.

hmm I like him. But I thought a cinny and a black pastel are basically the same. So, what happened to the panda pied?

Re-read my post and you will see I meant super cinni or super black pastel so if you wanted to put someone down make sure you are right. Also a cinni and black pastel combo also makes a black snake so it is possible that a cinni black pastel pied would look like the panda pied that Outback made. Thanks have a nice day. BTW Tim congrats on hatching him out.

I was not putting you down. I was correcting you. A cinny to a black pastel does not make a solid black snake. You would get cinny, black pastel, and normal. They are not the same morph and therefore are not compatible to form the super in that way. Do you always get so upset if someone says "wrong"? Sheesh. Have a nice day.

Wow...Really? I was always under the impression that they would form a super together as well...Much like the Lesser/Butter BEL. Guess we learn something new every day.

If they can it's certainly news to me.

    Sorry Monica, :(

    But they are alleles.

Cinny to black pastel has a 25% chance per egg of producing a solid dark snake.

I don't know how it would sit in the colour scale between a super cinny and a super black pastel (and for all I know it could be entirely varialble ) but it is a super as it cannot throw any normal offspring.

Huh. I didn't think that had been done. The color of each super is so different, including belly color, I wouldn't have thought it possible. Who proved this out?

    Hi,

    I honestly don't know.

I know Ralph davis was calling them the same thing in 2002 when he was writing his proven/ unproven morph list.

Yes they were black pastels but hes got the Cinnamon version of the Panda Pied . blacks and cinnys basically the same mutation in most views and opinions

Ok I get what you're saying now. They work like the BEL complex but are still clearly different morphs. In my opinion, the problem with people not being able to tell them apart at times is the amount of low quality versions of these morphs out there.

I want to find out who actually did this black pastel to cinny breeding and got a solid though. Just to rule our heresy.

    Anyway.. Sorry to derail.

    Re: Cinnamon Pied
I would like to say thanks to everyone that has shared in my excitement here. I didn't think this animal would get that much attention. I will say that I am fairly confident in the genetics of this animal. I have seen plenty of people that feel this is something other than a Cinnamon Pied. Maybe it is a dark headed Pewter Pied, but I doubt it (I will keep it anyway, and at some point he will breed). What I can say is that mom is a Het Pied that I got 7 years ago, and this is her third clutch of eggs, and nothing other than normals and Pieds have ever come out of her. As far as dad is concerned, I produced him 2 years ago from breeding a Pied to a Sterling female (that is also proven as only a Sterling). With my intimate knowledge of this exact breeding, I am fairly confident that it is just a Cinny Pied that has an extremely dark head.

But, I will be breeding him in the future, and will know for sure in a couple short years.

Below is a picture of a Super that Brian at BHB produced in 2004 from a Cinny to Black Pastel breeding. It is in shed in the pic, and I do have it labeled as a Super Cinny on my site, but that was my label from 2004 when we weren't still clear on the compatability or not of the genes back then.
