    Finding a great quality lesser...
Im in the market for a male lesser, preferably '10 but '11 will do just fine.
Anyways im wondering if there are different "lines" of lessers and if so if any are the better. Ive seen quite a few different examples of lessers and some seem to be more striking then others. If anyone has a breeder to suggest I would appreciate that as well. Thanks for any input guys!

Do you have a breeder in mind? Any suggestions would be helpful...ive looked through kingnsnake.com but like i said ive seen many different examples of a lesser and I would rather get him from a reputable person.

I think emilio (in my friends list) on here is doing lessers this season, I am pairing this fella up with 3 females with med sized follicles now, so hopefully I'll have some also :)

I know most of all the big guy breeders and I know they are quality breeding facilities. Any breeder suggestion will give me ideas and more lessers to choose from :) which is great.

I got mine from VPI. He is pretty reduced and banded and I'm pairing him to my reduced female. We'll see how eye popping the babies are. I think with lesser's patience is a virtue. Just wait it out til you find the perfect one.

I got mine (picture in avatar thing, and in profile) from Albey Scholl at albeysreptiles.com

There's a link to the page with a male lesser for sale. I looked for ages for one that had everything I was looking for, and only found it through him. Hope that helps!

Well ive found quite variety in in the shades of "yellow" and this one is appealing to me but im not sure if its an excellent example of a lesser? Im very new to lessers and adding them to my project.

If I were shopping for a lesser, that one would definitely be a strong contender.

Louis Kirkland has very nice lessers, I got this female from him. I don't know if he has any available, but he's a member here, so you could check with him.

I got this male from John Vandegriff (sp?) who is also a member here.

And here are the two together for contrast:

Thank you...agree 100%...:gj: A Lesser's a Lesser...just pick one you really like...busy patterned Lessers throw busy pattern babies and clean Lessers throw clean babies...all depends on what you like. And RDR's are no better "quality" than anyone elses...they just cost more. :D

While all these lessers are gorgeous...

    I like butter better.

Buch moe intence fading and eye catching personally.

    Like, Gimme. My butter.

Its always "to each their own"
But I do prefer the way lessers impact combos

But everyone thinks they're the same. I kinda do too. ;-)

Butters and Lessers are the same morph IMO...if you're looking to pick up a Butter/Lesser just pick the one you like best, regardless of what the seller is calling it...

You might say I'm biased, and you'd probably be right, but I really like this girl that I produced last year.
    http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hons/016-1.jpg

I just hatched a clutch of lessers from the same sire as her.

They're the same thing. The original father of lessers was a Platty Daddy. His offspring were called Lesser Platinums, and now people just call them Lessers.

Thomas Eichelburger (user 36knuck on Fauna) produces some outstanding lessers from his RDR line male. My male from him is gorgeous IMO (tho yeah, I'm biased like we all are :D ), and it seems all of the lessers I've seen from Thomas are exemplary examples.

I'm also very happy with the babies that my lesser male produced this year, and IMO that's what really says a lot. The dams he was bred to aren't all that special (not "ugly," but not knockouts), so I'm assuming the lovely pattern came mainly from the sire. I think that's what's really key to look for (and can be most difficult!) -- not just a nice looking animal, but a nice looking animal from a proven bloodline that is more likely to produce nice looking animals.

    Here's my guy:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...na/Apollo2.jpg

Here's a box of his get from this year (okay, so my sample size for the pattern on his lesser offspring is pretty tiny -- but still, it is nice tho ain't it? :P )

Also, I don't want to derail this thread too much with this, but ......

Robin, this may be an asinine question and maybe you've already explored this, but is there any way that exceptional lesser of yours could be a platty? If not then man, I need to get me some lessers out of that bloodline :D ... But I've just seen so many unexpected platinums pop up of late, I can't help but wonder ...

He's amazing looking either way, just wondering if he could be one of those "surprise platties."

Ralph does not believe that he's a platty, but he said he's the closest he's seen. He does think that there's something going on with him outside the "normal" lesser.

He wasn't interested in the ladies this season, but I'll see how he does this season. :D

I agree it's "to each his/her own," and you just need to find one who catches your attention! I was shopping lessers for quite a while until finding MY perfect girl, and it was mostly her light color & blushing that appealed to me. I'd mention the breeder, but would actually hesitate to recommend them... despite her beautiful coloring, she arrived with an undisclosed neck kink (and the breeder has ignored all communication since). Anyway, my only advice is to keep looking & looking until you find a lesser who makes you go WOW.

    This is my girl Cordelia...
