proving a dinker question?

So i have a dinker female who is extremely light colored with a blushed out head. Now im going back and forth on whether to breed her to a normal male or a morph male? Normal male will definately show me if anything is going on but its worth anything. At least with a morph if nothing shows i still have the morphs. Any suggestions?

Although this season I did try proving out my dinker male to a normal female. So far they all look like normals.

So, breeding your snake to a morph would have more benefits than breeding to just a normal. Even if you don't prove anything out, you still get morphs. But if you do prove something out, you'll most likely get combos!

If it were me, I'd breed to a morph. More benefits out of the clutch for sure:gj:.

My only concern with breeding a Dinker to a normal is that if it turns out to be something very subtle...It may be harder to notice in a morph combo. I have a Dinker that I will be breeding this coming season and he will be bred to a normal female. Just my thoughts.

I would like to ask a really stupid question. Nobody uses the word "dinker" in boa's. Is a dinker a het????

No dinker just means its looks different or odd. Dinker meabs your going to "dink" with it to see if you can get any traits to pass on.

Thanks rat. I kept seeing the work dinker on here and was clueless as to what it actually was. :D

To be honest, I'd try to find another snake that would "show off" the trait well, like if you're pairing with a normal, don't pair it with a really dark one, etc. Of if you pair with a morph, same thing. It's up to you what you want to produce, though I agree that if it ends up being really subtle and you breed it to a morph, you may have to do another pairing to try to figure it out.

Breeding her to a morph would be better if you have one available. If she is a subtle morph then the trait might show up better on a morph than on a normal. (For instance when you combine yellow bellies with pastels) Alone, the morph is hard to distinguish from a normal, but combined with something else it just pops! Not to mention, if she doesn't turn out to be anything, then you still have a chance for morphs.

If you breed to a single gene codom male, like a mojave or a pastel, you'd most likely get a variety what would show you any effects on both normals and morphs. With a single gene codom father he will only pass on his codom gene to about half of his offspring.
