    15 Gram Mojave hatched out??????????
One of my eggs was supposed to be twins but one didn't make it. There was a undeveloped yolk sack underneath of a tiny mojave. My question is what is the smallest hatchling that you guys have seen? I remember seeing a bumble bee a while back that was like 27 grams. I would also like to know if the snake lived.

I've got a 24 gram pewter thats a week old right now...smallest I've hatched myself. She left a lot of yolk in the egg and hasn't tried to eat yet even with my one assist feeding attempt.

I hatched a 35g, that dropped to 29g. After 1 assist feeding, it has taken 2 meals on it's own. I hope yours does well., as yours also Luke.

Definitely the smallest ball python I have yet to see. As far as feeding it goes, you could be in for a harrowing experience. 5 gram corn snake babies can eat small pinkies, so I would say that would be your best bet, but they don't tend to move enough to cause a feeding response. You may have to try and find an ASF breeder and get fresh born pinkies from them. Maybe being a choice meal will win out over lack of motion.

i had twins this year at 26 and 28 grams. they took a month to shed and have now taken fuzzies by the new owner. also i remember someone posting a 14 gram hatchling on ks a couple years ago. ive heard many times over not to wait till they shed and to start offering food right away. live pinky mice would be your best bet.

Thanks for the input everyone. The little mojave is doing fine. Everyone seems to have the same concern, getting the little guy to eat. I'll have to try pinkies. I just hope he likes them.

When I got my Antaresia perthensis a couple of years ago, it just weigh 4 gram! That is a small snake :)

But a 15 gram bp baby is the smallest I've ever seen or heard of..

never had one that small, but I think as long as you try not to stress it out to much you'll be fine. I would just offer a pinky mouse at night. The reason I say at night is because my young ones esp with their first feeding seem to be more shy and eat at night other then in the day. Good luck with everything...keep us posted

Too bad you can't get feeder shrews.
But very nice. My pastel is a twin, hatched at 37g, he will be turning 1 next week and weighed in at 410g last night.

Well I'm sorry to say that the little guy didn't make it. He died after two days. I wanted it to be a great story about how the little one overcame the odds and grew up. He came from a double sired cluth consisting of 2.1 Mojaves, 1.1 Normals, and .1 Pastel. I will post pics of them soon.

I hatched out a 30 gram male that did not asborb all his yolk. He started feeding on his own and my bother in law had him for over a year before getting rid of him. He ate good.

guess I should have read all the way threw. Sorry

I've had several babies hatch out around 30 grams (or less) with yolk sac issues. I haven't lost one yet. They usually do NOT shed out on time, but DO start eating on their own within a week of hatching. I offer small fuzzy mice. The little ones seem to be eager to eat. I'm sorry to hear you lost your little guy...he must have had some less apparent problem than just his size. Not every hatchling can make it, unfortunately.

My deepest sympathies to you and the little peanut that didn't make it. I was rooting for him.

Also I'm terribly sorry about the quads. Ive been reading both threads avidly every day and I'm sorry they didn't pull through. Its natures way though.

    Keep your heads up
