New snake.
Today I broke all of my own rules. I bought a snake I have no clear plans for, a male no less. A supposed het with no papers. He looks like he needs some groceries. He certainly needed a good soak--you're not seeing the dried shed that came on him, I rolled that off after the soak. He doesn't handle well for a ball python, he handles more like a pissed off ratsnake. I have passed over many far better snakes. And yet....I like the guy.
Anyways, meet Darth Jackass. He bit me 4 times already so he's earned the name.

I apologize for the pictures. I couldn't get him to sit still because he's like a snake on speed. I felt sorry for him and for some reason I liked him, so he stays. Go ahead, laugh. :)

Oh my gosh he has bit you 4 times already! At least he has a sweet pattern!
-
Cool pattern, sorry he's got an attitude. Maybe if you're lucky, he'll calm down over time.
-
I kinda like snakes with a funky attitude, it's part of his appeal. :D
I also liked the messed up pattern. I don't know if I'll ever be inebriated or crazy enough to breed the guy, but if I do stoop that low I wouldn't mind getting one that looks like him.
He was bought for a pet. If he never amounts to anything but a fun and challenging basket case he's still got a home.

Re: New snake.
Awwww! The poor guy! If he had shed stuck on him that badly it is no wonder why he is so pissed off! He really is beautiful.
-
Come to think of it, he hasn't bitten me since I got those bits of stuck shed off. Maybe I need to glue them back on.
-
I managed to get him to sit still long enough to get a partial pic of his underbelly. Nothing really remarkable there. He's not as nippy as he was a few hours ago. After this pic I offered him a f/t rat which he came partway out of his cage to grab. Poor guy--he had to be pretty hungry to feed that quickly in a strange cage. Oh, in the first pic he looked sort of "well rounded" at the back end. Well, that "well rounded" was crapped out in the form of a big load of feces and urates. And I now have a sparkling clean laundry sink that reeks of clorox.

LOL!!! I love the name!! I'm sure in time in your care he will become more pleasant
-
  4 times huh, serously though, I'm digging the odd markings & connected alien heads on him.
-
Yeah, I like his pattern. It's funny--I don't usually go for the dark snakes and he is darker than average.
I enjoy working with the snappy ones, so I guess he'll earn his keep by entertaining me.
-
Re: New snake.
Im in love with that pattern and how dark he is but in your case u could always breed for the ATTITUDE.
-
I could see myself trying to unload any of his evil spawn.
Well, their alien heads are majorly messed up. And if you really like being bitten, then these are the snakes for you!
-
I have a Crested Gecko like that - He's not good looking, he's a male and he has a bad attitude, but for some very odd reason, I love him. He was a rescue from Petco. He thinks he's a half tamed Tokay.
My first (and so far only) Ball Python is also a male Het Albino with no papers, though his pattern isn't as cool as Darth Jackass's. ;) He is dark like your's, though - maybe it's a het albino thing? I won mine (with a tank) at a raffle. :)
-
Re: New snake.
What is he supposed het for? I really wanna see his face. he has a sweet dark head pattern going on.
-
He's supposedly het albino. I'll get better pictures of him in a few days. He has an interesting face, the dark is very dark and the light parts are very light. Lots of contrast.

I dunno, he might be fun to dink around with. Maybe breed him to a normal female to see if he passes on his cool markings to any of his offspring. If you got a daughter that looks like him, you could raise her up and breed her back to see if there's an interesting Super form.
I think he's pretty darn interesting, though considering how grouchy he was with the stuck shed, he's going to be a terror when in blue.
-
He's shifted his focus and quit trying to bite. Currently the only thing on his mind is food. I gave him a rat and he's still looking for more.

Least i think soo. He is a wonderful catch though. nice

I had to pull Darthie out of his house--I don't like to disturb a snake who has just eaten but this snake has crapped an amazing amount in the few hours I've had him.
This shows his pattern pretty well. After drinking for 10 minutes and eating two small rats he seems more content and he was agreeable to sitting still for a few seconds to have his picture taken. He's not biting anymore either. This pic doesn't show his contrasts all that well. I'm going to get some of him in natural light once he's settled in. Please excuse the old ratty comforter. As much as he's crapped today, Darthie isn't going to be sitting on any "good" surfaces for a while.

Darthie has become my "garbage disposal" snake. Anything that the established snakes refuse gets taken over to the "cootie cage" (quarrantine cage) and presented to Darth.
He ate 3 rat pups tonight. 2 of his own (he will do a small, but I'm using the pups up) and one that the picky mojave didn't want.
He loves his new job. :D

Re: New snake.
WOW, that is a beautiful Ball! That is such an awesome find, it's definitely safe to say that he should most definitely be in your breeding plans:gj:!!
-
I'm not really keen on using Darth for breeding. Is he a morph? A screwy looking normal? I can't tell. He kinda looks like my old WC python did--pattern isn't right but the color is.
He has some features of several morphs--black pastel, het red, cinnamon, and a few more but he's not the whole package of any of them. Het red axanthic is the closest. He is supposedly het for albino, but with no paperwork who is to say? The guy who said that he was het for albino also said he was an "alien heads" (cough) morph.
Right now he seems content to be my rat garbage can. If I ever get enough snakeroom I might have pity on Darthie and get an albino female to toss him in with, but right now I don't have a set up for breeding yet, let alone for proving out dubious het males.
If he's nothing else he's an entertaining pet. He isn't biting now but he sure knows how to talk trash with his hisses.

My first thought upon seeing him was a black pastel. See the black smudges around the alien heads? I don't see much flaming, but I see some great blushing. Got a belly shot? Either way he is a handsome fella!
-
I like his pattern, sucks about the attitude, but most of mine are pissy so I'm use to it
-
I haven't gotten a decent belly shot of Darthie yet because he's not cooperative. What little bit of a pic of his belly I got today was remarkable only for still being a little sunken in. Any time I turn him over he's right back again. (that eliminates spider :D )

The little monster finally let me take a straight on pic of his snout, and I noticed the little dark markings on his lower jaw--they look like fangs! He sure wishes they were.

I REALLY like the wild pattern. Would be awesome if he could make little evil babies that look like him

Well to me he definitely doesn't look like just a normal! But definitely an awesome pet nonetheless:gj:. LOL, love the hissy ones :D.

What Darthie's mouth pattern reminds me a little bit of:

Tonight, I have captured the rarest of all sights--Darth Jackass in a clean bin. It will not look this nice tomorrow. He will find some way to befoul it within an hour.

Things are looking up for Darthie, though. After much consideration, most of it while watching "Bad Santa" and drinking many screwdrivers, I have determined that this will be his future bride:

I am seriously digging that wild pattern. I think I would have snatched him up quickly too. Het or not, he's awesome looking! :gj:

If that's a normal it's the nicest I've ever seen :gj:

Re: New snake.
I think it's time for a Darth update! How is he doing these days? Still got some of that attitude, I hope?
