    *Waves* Hello all!

*coughs, taps microphone, winces at the squeal of feedback* Um, yeah. Gotta get that fixed.

Anyways! The name's Silver (or SD if you want to go by my forum name), and I've been a lurker here for a couple months now. I've always loved animals of all kinds (although birds hate me, for some reason), and I grew up helping in my grandfather's pet supply shop.

... I'm not kidding, I learned to do the register when I was three.

Anyways, I've always had a special spot in my heart for snakes, especially the constrictors. Sadly I have no snakes at the moment (I'm staying with my parents for now to help raise my sister's two children, LOOOONG story there, and my mom said NO SNAKES).

However, I'm working to change that, and I want to start by getting ball pythons and perhaps a boa. I love all the different morphs (though my favorite base morph would have to be Lessers), and I'd like to have a collection and maybe breed someday.

Other than that, I'm a self-proclaimed geek (I'm a woman who's favorite pastimes are reading, anime, video games, DnD, and working chain mail), I sorta half-own a dog (technically he's my parents', but I've been paying for his food, toys, and vet bills), and I have NO sense of self-preservation.

Seriously, I don't. I tried to pet a lion once.

*cough* And I try to be funny, though I don't always pull it off.

Now that I've bored you all to tears with my rambling, I'd just like to say that I hope to be a good, long-time member here of this wonderful community.

Thanks for the friendly welcome, everyone!

And the original reason I started lurking here was to find out all I could about keeping snakes responsibly. I want to know all I can before buying all the equipment I need and finally going and picking out a snake.

Also, some things I forgot in my first post:

I live in Dallas, Tx, I listen to country, pop, and some rock, I am not a Christian (which gets me some flak from my family, but I ignore it. I don't nag them for their choice in what to believe, and I'm hoping for the day that they choose to return the sentiment. Live and let live, and all that), I'm 26, I have moments where I devolve into a squeeing fangirl (usually when presented with something adorable, though my standards are... strange... as to what falls in that category), and I love fire and things that go boom a LITTLE too much. I work nights as a security guard, and often hop on websites on my phone when bored.

    Hello and welcome!

You've certainly come to the right place. We are all more or less nuts here :rolleye2:, and we all love snakes. You'll fit in just fine!

Feel free to talk about snakes, ramble about snakes, ask questions about snakes, admire other peoples snakes, and even occasionally talk about something besides snakes!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

And my mom's reasoning is "I don't do snakes." She's not scared of them, she simply doesn't want any in her house. Which, again, it's her house, and I understand and respect her reasons and decisions, even if I don't agree with it.

I did have one ball growing up, a normal male by the name of Houdini (take three guesses how he got that name, and the first two don't count). I swear, you could have a BRICK sitting on top of the lid to his tank, and he'd STILL escape. No, we don't know how.

My uncle kept him for me, thankfully. Sweet snake, very gentle and never even hissed once. Sadly, one time he escaped and we never found him again. *Cried for days*.

But yeah, once I move I'm thinking about either buying or building a rack so that I can get my husbandry right and do any tweaks I need to do before going and acting like a kid in a candy store as I start getting snakes.

The boa would probably be more a pet and would get a pimped out tank. *Tends to spoil her pets like whoa, and knows a boa would appreciate it more than balls*
