I Am Curious !!!! Anyone else ever have it happen ?
Hey ,
Now i know having Twins in an egg is not all that rare but i was curious to know how many people have had Triplets ?
i got a 7 egg Clutch Double sired (Pinstripe & Spider x Normal Female)
now i cut eggs to see who was the daddy and i notice i had a set of twins
so my ratio is going to be 2 normals , 4 pinstripes and Twin Spiders .
WELL !!! as i was looking at my eggs last night seeing how the twins were coming along and i noticed something strange , i found a living and moving 3rd snake body in the egg so these went from what i thought was Twins to now being Triplets and i know its a very rare occurrence but i wanted to find out how many others have had it happen ?
First pic ( Twins before i found out there was 3rd )

Re: I Am Curious !!!! Anyone else ever have it happen ?
That is fascinating! I have never heard of twins let alone triplets. I haven't gotten into breeding yet, maybe in a few years :):gj:

I'm pretty sure they were referring to how much you cut open.

Well as in Window of how much i cut it really doesnt have any adverse affects that i have ever run into . i follow same routine every clutch and its never hurt or affected my eggs in any way....

it's a controversial video ... He messes with em too much.

You might be right on snake, but I assumed they were ball pythons ... guess not :)
Either way, grats :)
-
Still curious, the snakes in the eggs are white and gray .... Is it just the lighting?

In day 40 they dont have full coloration yet...If I good remember full colors popping up around day 50...
Edit: :ninja:
-
The color comes in later on baby ball pythons, they will develop more color as they mature in the egg and moreso when they hatch and have their first shed! I remember seeing some crazy spiders(or bees?) that looked pure black and white until they hatched out of the egg, it just meant they weren't all the way 'cooked' yet! :D

just like what was said before i posted , they are on day 40 so they havent gotten their full colors in yet , usually the color is the last thing to appear on babies .
-
Wow that's just awesome! Cant wait to see pics out of the egg.
-
Oh shoot I missed the day the eggs were at. Is there a risk cutting so early?
Yeah, after rewatching the video, I realized they were retic eggs, lol.

like i said i personally have never had a problem cutting at day 30 ( and i know quite a few others that do it as well same as i do ) and they never had a problem either , but i warn anyone thats not familiar with cutting eggs to just leave them be until your sure of yourself . its not something for the novice to attempt
-
Didn't Brian at BHB have a video on YT regarding triplets a couple years back, or was that a spoof?
-
man I so want one of those triplets lol, I love to see if that happens ot be a rare genic trait ( specially if there both a male and female in that one egg lol)
:tears:sadly it looks like unless I get a bunch more rain no new bps for me this year.:tears:

well i can tell you this in clutch #2 i have 1 definite set of Twins and it looks like theres 2 more and if the Spider is the daddy then it will be proven to be a genetic trait . cause if he can do that to 2 separate clutches then the odds are going to say his children will be able to have the same results
-
I'm curious if twins are a genetic trait?
My little pastel was a twin and I was told I shouldn't breed him because of that fact.
Hatch weight- 37g
Currently - 390g at 11months old

why shouldnt you breed him since he was a twin that just seems a little off. i would say the gene probably skips a generation so they would probably not have twins but its offspring might throw some out never know though

If he's a twin...that would be MORE incentive for me to breed him.
-
Congrats, can't wait to see more pics.
-
Congrats that's sooo cool! I just hope they all make it, I imagine with three having to share the nutrients they'll all be a little on the weak side. Good luck can't wait to see an update!
-
sub'd for future pics + updates

Re: I Am Curious !!!! Anyone else ever have it happen ?
Well its about 1 week left right now till they start coming out and i was able to watch them and they are all moving around and i finally got to see all 3 heads (they moved enough to uncover them ) so outside of being small when they hatch i think they will come out fine (crosses fingers) ..
I'll have more updates as it comes down to hatch date ..
-
Sweet clutch. I do think it may be genetic. I have a female hypo that seems to always throw twins.

Now you will notice in the video you will see 3 bodies and 3 tails unfortunately
i couldnt get all 3 heads in the shot . but i will be doing my best to catch all 3 when they pip the egg . So hopefully my video aint to bad , enjoy.

But its Official My male Spider has produced 1 set of triplets in clutch 1 and 1 definite / possibly 2 more sets of Twins in clutch # 2 ..

Who's Ur Daddy Clutch #2 UPDATE
Quote:
Quick Update on the Triplets clutch its day 48 or 49 lol they will soon be pipping ..
Ok heres what the Clutch #2 is turning out to be
looks like its going to be 1 definite set of twins and 1 poss set of twins and the rest single snakes
so its going to be 5 or 6 spiders and 2 normals out of a 6 egg clutch
