One more opinion before I make the commitment please...
Ok, you all are probably tired of seeing these kinds of posts, but here goes. I have 1,000 dollars roughly to spend on a "snake investment" in August at the St. Louis Reptile show. I really want to get a bumblebee male and breed it to a couple diff. females eventually. I am thinking a Cinnamon or pastel female.

I am guessing, though, that most of you will say (as some already have) to wait on the male and just get a copule nice young females, huh?

I just want that bee so danged bad haha..

    Thanks, Ben

if it were me, and i HAD to have the male bee, i'd go with the cinnamon girl.

i've got a spider girl and i'm currently looking for pewter boy for her; so same results i guess lol.

For $1000 you might be able to get a bumblebee male, cinnamon female, and a pinstripe female (or another female dominant/incompletely dominant mutation) at a show. Then you'd be well on your way to make some nice combos in a couple years! I'd try to find very nice examples of each animal no matter what you buy though. Better to pay a bit more for high quality animals than to get a "good deal" on lower quality stuff that you'll have a harder time selling in the future. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

    Forget the Bee male
I would not buy a Bee male, because he is half Spider. There are many people out there who will not want a Spider based on the wobble issues. If you have a Bee male, half your babies might turn out Spider. If you have to have a Bee, get a female, and get a male that is a cross of two morphs that both have supers or is a higher end morph all by itself. I would get an Enchi cross or Enchi male based on your funds, and a Bee female and maybe an Enchi female or something like that.

If what you're shooting for is a bee and two affordable single trait females.. you should be able to find what you're looking for for under $1000

Don't forget about housing costs however. I generally plan on spending about $500 on housing for four snakes.

Well now I'm not so sure about getting the bee male lol...

So the best thing to do probably would be get a cinny female for one. Can anyone give me a few more suggestions on some codominant females that I could get, and eventually make something pretty cool in a couple years? (also a recommendation ona male other than a bee would be appreciated).

    Thanks,
    Ben

    I would get...
an Enchi male or female or both. They are very sought after, and they do produce a nice looking, and rarely made Super. Having Enchi in each clutch, if you have a male, is not a bad thing. Mojave females would be nice too, they produce a cool super and great crosses with Mystics and Specials. Unless you love Cinnamons, there are probably other females that would be better in the long run.

Hm...I literally have no idea what to do now lol.

I really am hung up on the bee, so I am having trouble steering away from that.

So basically, what one or two females should I get for the bee male is what I am debating right now...??

Thanks for the input folks..keep it comin please.

Sounds like a super pastel male would be great for you, It would go great with either Cinny, Pinstripe, or bumblebee females and make you some really cool clutches :gj: My super Pastel male was one of my best purchases

How much would a young super pastel male cost me?

If I had a bee male I would personally want a female pastel to try for Killer Bees, and a female pinstripe to try for Spinner Blasts, a female lesser would also work well with a bee so you could potentially produce Queen bees. I like the idea of a cinnamon female; however, I don't personally think Pewter Bees are as attractive as the aforementioned combos.

If you love bees, get a bee, although some people won't buy spider/spider crosses lots of people do and love them. Personally I hope to get a bumblebee or honeybee male next year, although Pieds are my thing. If you love it get it, you will be the one caring for it the next 20+ years! As for females, Cinnamon, Lesser, Pastel, Pinstripe, Mojave or Yellow Belly are all super cool co-dominates. Pick the 1 or 2 you like best, again you will be caring for them.

Whenever someone asks "what should I do?" people tend to give advice based on what they would do or what they like. You should do what YOU want and what YOU like. If you like bumblebees, get one. Every spider morph will have the wobble. But if you are cautious in your purchase and carefully examine the snake to make sure the wobble isn't severe, you'll be fine. The spider gene is still veerrry popular despite the wobble.

I would, however, suggest you consider getting a FEMALE bumblebee. With $1000 you could pick up a female bee plus a nice lesser, mojave, pinstripe, or cinnamon females. I would get 2-3 of those nice females with that $1000 this year then look for a nice super pastel male next year. You'll be all set 2-3 years from now to produce some awesome clutches with that!

Super Pastel x bumblebee = possible Killer Bees
Super Pastel x Lesser = Lesser Pastels
Super Pastel x Cinnamon = Pewters
Super Pastel x Mojave = Pastaves
Super Pastel x Pinstripe = Lemon Blasts

If you added a male Lesser Pastel from one of those clutches to your holdbacks, you could eventually produce Queen Bees, Blue-eyed Luecistics, Lesser Pewters, Kingpins, and Pastel Kingpins. Quite a line up!!! :gj:
