First Bite from the big girl

Well, last night I had Buffy out and the girlfriend held her, then she came to me. She wrapped herself around my waist, but as she was wrapping herself around, she bit my right elbow. It happened really fast and was done before I could even react, so I didn't bother to...but the girlfriend on the other hand...you'd think I lost my arm LOL.
So I continue to let Buffy crawl around me and I explain to the girlfriend, that I'm not going to put her back in the enclosure for another five minutes or so. Buffy is content around my waist and eventually goes back in her enclosure, no fuss no muss...I'm wondering if she thought the point of my elbow looked like the head of a rodent...she wasn't upset and the bite was very random...no sudden movements or anything.

As you can see, for a big red tailed female, that is a pretty minor bite...thought it would be worse and I figured it would hurt more...it was nothing...that's why I figured she must have taken my elbow as food.

i have a question though...if the snake thought your arm was food wouldnt she have held on & constricted it even?
i see the spots where her teeth went in but what caused that long abrasion looking mark going up the back of your arm? :confused:

like you said she probably thought it was the head of some prey. we dont feel much pain in our elbows especially the wenis(skin on the elbow).ive had pretty gnarly gashes from skating and people putting clamps on my elbow,not much feeling there.

She already wrapped around my waist like a belt, hanging on...it would have been very difficult to constrict without falling off me (snakeskin belt LOL) it was really weird because she did it once and continued on like nothing happened and was fine afterwards...unless this is some kinky mating ritual i don't know about...giggity

I just picked up a 7ft male, and was wondering what I bite from him would feel like. This makes me feel a lot better. Imagine getting bit in the face though, ouch!!

Ive have had my snakes for 2 years now and havent been bit yet but i know its coming maybe even faster with my new red tail girl i just got lol
