Showing off Phineas my weird bumblebee
    Happy 4th of July everyone,

I have another post in the breeding section on me cutting the eggs of my first clutch ever. After showing a picture of one of the sires, there is alot of interest about the bumblebee male my family calls "phineas" so I thought I would post pics here also.

    Thanks for looking and enjoy!

    Dave

I have never seen a bumble bee that looked like that. He almost looks like he has some piebald in there. Defenitley unique.

With those head markings and color he looks like a normal spider with some of the worst burns I've ever seen. Sometimes scars heal white, but that is really extreme. Glad to see he has recovered though and that you enjoy him!

You guys are correct in that the white going around his body back by his tail are scars. The person I purchased hime from said that they are burns from another snake regurging on him while in transit to/from a show.

    Everything else is normal scales.

You can see the scar line, that dark line midway up the body that is wrinkled looking. It goes along the entire body. His burns are more extensive than just that part on the back unfortunately.

something about those dark colored scales along the sides screams super severe burn, but the white just looks to me like some kind of very oddly unique high white situation...not burns.
if all of the white is the burn then dear lord i wonder how that creature survived?!?! it just doesnt add up.
the scales down the sides from the head to the tail look like they were the burned ones at one point and unless the other snake was regurging acid, theres no way it would/could do that much damage, right?
i'm no professional so if i'm completely wrong then that animal needs to be renamed miracle if it were a girl anyway.

definitely a burn. a regurge cannot cause damage like that. snakes stomachs dont have as strong an acid as humans stomach. that is a burn from a negligent owner at one point, or his skin was eaten off by a rat. either way glad he is alive and its a shame he had to suffer in order to get to where he is. glad he is with an owner that is taking care of him properly...kudos to you my friend.

I have always noticed the unusual line running down his body on both sides but since the scales are normal unlike the scars by his tail I figured it was just normal.

Either way my family and I love him to death and he was a major stud during breeding. I am really interested to see what the spiders from his clutch end up looking like.

He does have a very bright gold/yellow base color to him, thats what made me think he was a bumblebee......and his mother was a pastel, so it will be interesting to see them in a few months.

Thanks you everyone for the comments and explaining him burn/scars. I am really glad I have him adn can give him a good life from now I on.

I think he is a lovely snake, but all that scar tissue and all those misshapen scales all over the body make me cringe. It makes me imagine what the poor guy must have went through !
Glad he is at a good home, now, though !!!

edited to say, and yes, he is still beautiful. He has character ;) Deserves a good home just like any other snake, morph or not, perfect or not ! Enjoy him :)

a rat could definitely do that kind of damage...what could cause a burn like that if the snake wasnt laying on its sides while coiled? wrapping around a lamp would be unlikely too unless it was coiled sideways or something...i dunno.

Actually I believe snakes have stronger stomach acid than Humans.. they dissolve hair bones birds beaks... But i Agree that Looks more like heat combine with bites....

For OT happy that This poor thing have good life with You... When i look at him I see high white spider not bee but with that scaring and discoloration I could be wrong.... keep us posted with Your breeding results and good luck for you and him :gj::gj::gj:

I would also like to add, thats a spider, not a bee.

Im also glad to hear he didnt get burned during your care. When I saw pics of him in your other post I almost said a few things I would now regret knowing you didnt do that to him.

Agree 100%...Not a Bee, but a beautiful spider. I'm glad he has a good home with you now!

    What a lovely boy.

His scarring is severe, but I think it makes him that much more beautiful in his own way.

Whatever happened to him to make him look that way, he's got a loving owner now and a harem of his own, so what more could he ask for ?

    First thought: OUCH!
I am glad he is in a good home, he is beautiful but poor baby! It is good to know he is doing well with you guys, looks like he deserves a wonderful home and a harem.

i thought snakes coiled up ON the hot rocks like on their bellies...not around them
(picturing a female wrapping a bowl). but ok. i guess i can see that happening with a stone of sorts.
either way ouch! but glad he's got a good home.
    piebald dave3 - awesome move getting him!:gj:

Yep, hate to agree and break your heart, but it's a spider with horrible scarring. Likely from getting burnt since the scars are so uniform. A bee has a different head pattern and it's yellow.
