Lois and her FIVE HUGE EGGS! (first clutch ever)

This is my first clutch ever! And I wasn't even in town to see it---I fly back home tomorrow. I just KNEW Lois would time it like that. So my friend in Tucson is taking care of Lois, and took pictures.

100% het lavender x supposed 100% het lavender! Mom is suddenly much, much skinnier:

Doesn't she? She's a tiny momma, too: only 1385 grams a couple days ago. We won't be letting her maternally incubate this clutch.

But she's a fierce little deflated tire! She already snapped at my friend!

Hey, what do y'all think of that top egg? It doesn't look like a slug, but... it is smaller and darker. And my friend says it doesn't appear to be as well-veined (though it's apparently hard to candle them with Lois sniping. We'll have a better idea later on veins today.)

Mom has been removed. Lots of hissing.

RESULTS: Five eggs, all fertile! Lois went from 1385 grams last week to 909 grams this morning. Average egg weight is 94 grams. (They really are pretty big, huh?)

GOOD JOB, LOIS. Now take a break, and have a mouse. Please.
