question about my new BP

i just got him cinn he is really hyper he strike me few times. when i pick him up
he will move really fast out of my hands. will they come down?

Yes, over time they become tolerant of us. Babies tend to be nippy, and will calm down and get used to being handled.

Great looking cinny! With gentle handling he should calm down. Just be careful not to stress him out too much. Use slow movements and don't grab at him or go over top of his head.

im very careful if he bite how bad are does bites?

The bites are nothing to be worried about. How long have you had him? If you just got him you should leave him alone in his enclosure for a week or so, to avoid stressing him out.

Nothing a band-aid can't solve. I've been bitten by much bigger than a ball and suffered no ill effects. If he does light ya up, just make sure ya clean it really well. The worst part about bites is waiting to be bit. After most bites I've taken I laughed.

I agree he will settle down. He just has to figure out your not a huge monster that's not going to eat him :O

Yes, as everyone has said. But with the bites, honestly there is nothing to worry about in terms of pain, its really nothing.

As for your own safety, the bite isn't going to be very bad trust me you won't lose a finger and bleed to death or anything, but do clean the wound.

And for your ball python's safety, try AS HARD AS POSSIBLE to be prepared for a strike no matter what, meaning when he makes sudden movements, you try not to. I still have a problem with this and there have been a couple of times when my snakes snagged me and got me as I jerked back from shock, and they got flung somewhere or yanked out of the tub and fell onto the floor. Dangerous really. You should know this, but just for the record, if he bites and holds, don't pull him out.

Yeah my little Spider female is still jumpy even though she is handled a lot etc. Shes feisty and nothing wrong with that. Slow movements, handle him a little at a time and eventually he will get used to you. Plus once they get a little size on them they become more confident in themselves, and don't feel so vulnerable to everything. He is still learning his environment and is very vulnerable to everything so he is a bit scared and rightfully so. You just have to show him like said above you are not a monster to eat him and he is safe with you.

Ive heard that you can use vinegar to ease them off if they latch on. is this true?
