    Day 56...right on schedule! :)
From a Spider x Pastel pairing...hoping for my first Bumblebee's...:)

These are about a week behind...Butter x Spider pairing...

I used Hatchrite again this year and have had no problems at all. In the second tub pictured above, I used a previously opened bag from last year. An OPENED, YEAR OLD bag of Hatchrite still maintains perfect humidity. Hatchrite haters are entitled to their opinion, but I love the stuff. :gj:

Can you show us what else you do to your egg box besides add hatchrite?

For instance, do you use press n seal? Do you have any air holes in your box?

No air holes...no press n seal...

    1. Pour in the Hatchrite
    2. Put the eggs in
    3. Put lid on tub and place in incubator
    4. Now play the waiting game...:D

    Doesn't get any easier...

I'll open the tubs maybe once a week to check eggs and clear condesation from the tub lids...

I am new to ball python breeding and would like to do it in a few years when my female matures. Could you post how you incubate and in what? :) Grats on the babys!

If I remember correctly, no water at all with the hatchrite, correct? That second set of eggs btw are some of the most robustly, beautifully round eggs I think I have ever seen from a BP :)

Congrats! Will say a Bee Prayer for ya tonight! lol

I went the cheapo route and used a coleman cooler...heated with 2 feet of 11 or 12 inch flexwatt controlled with a Herpstat...

    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a386/sho220/inc1.jpg

I cut a piece of plexiglass to use as an inside cover so I can open the cooler and check the eggs without letting out the warm air...

    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...220/inc2-1.jpg

I routed all the wires through the drain hole and mounted temp guages/Herpstat on front...

    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a386/sho220/inc3.jpg

I picked up some wire racks from Lowes to place the tubs on...

    http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a386/sho220/inc4.jpg

It's a very simple setup but works great...haven't lost an egg yet...knock on wood...:D

Hatching baby BP's couldn't be easier...I think alot of people run into trouble by over-complicating it...

No water needed with the Hatchrite...I had half a bag left over from last year and I used that on the second clutch I pictured...after a year of being stored in my snake room it still is able to maintain perfect humidity...:)

I'm saying prayers for Bee's too!

I'm so jealous...I can't wait to make my own bee. Thanks for your example of a incubator. I agree some make it too complicated and it's been freaking me out! haha Congrats:)

Wow! Thank you for this picture. I was wondering if coolers could work. I think I'm going to go the broken CL fridge/freezer route, but still unsure about how to set up the heat tape. Lots of more research to do but I have lots of time :D

GORGEOUS bee babies ... I may be ordering a bee later today .... Such an addiction!

I use a cooler incubator also much like yours except I have full water bottles in the bottom to help stabalize the heat when the cooler is opened. I also have a small computer fan wired in the middle of the cooler to move the dead air around. works great I have my first clutch cooking right now due any day. Pastel to spider and mojave got my fingers crossed for bee's also.

What a beautiful bee! Congratulations! For the record, I'm a huge Hatchrite fan, but I have switched to straight Perlite for affordability, and incubate the same way. I mix water until it's the same "feel" with moisture as the Hatchrite. Got a 4 cubic foot bag of the stuff, it will last me for YEARS!

That's a good idea...if I ever get beyond a few clutches a year I'd probably go that route...it's just too easy and cheap right now to order a bag or two and be done with it...:D

Those are some hot bees! And really nice pastels and spiders! Congrats!

Thanks for the pics of your incubator. You should totally post a thread to show the cooler-incubator set up, because you've done a bang-up job on that. Really impressive.

First one pipped on day 56, two more on day 57 and that's the day I cut the rest. They came out of the eggs over the next couple days...the female spider was the last one out...

Lol. I don't have the room or funds to get another right now anyway. I do eventually want to make some bees and bel's tho. I know how those 12 hour shifts go. My last job there were times I would have to work 12-13 days in a row on 12 hour shifts. Thats no fun. Again congrats on the beautiful clutch.

Very consistent weights on this clutch...4 weighed in at 67 grams, 1 at 66 and 1 at 64.

Next clutch is hatching now...looks like a Butterbee, 4 Butters, a Spider and a normal...pics when they'r out...:)
