Never before have I been so nervous in my life!
So.. I'm going to propose to my girlfriend on august 17! It's our dating anniversary.

It's a wednesday and she does llama rides for kids at the farmers market. I told her to keep the night after free so shes thinking were going to go out to eat or something and is worried about smelling like farm animals lol so I'm thinking I'll leave a note on her car saying to meet me at her favorite inn with the key for it in the note. Then leave her a change of cloths and a note saying she can take her time, have a shower and change if she wants and to meet me on the pier, which is where I first asked her out. I want to propose there and then take her to dinner, we can then go tell the patents and what not.

I wanted to hear what you guys had to say. well... More specifically you girls lol I only have one close girl friend and shes like crazy fancy with everything...

Her and her sister totally made me feel like my idea sucked =/

Honestly, if they really want it, they don't care how simple or extravegant it is, they'll say yes and cry and yell and all sorts of celebratory things.

    Good luck to you!

I think that is a sweet idea! I personally don't need or particularly want "fancy and extravagant" so that idea is nice. It will have meaning to both of you, and I'm sure she'll say yes. Congrats and let us know how it turns out!

Ok here's the thing if the two of you aren't a "showy" couple i.e sky writing to say I Love you or fire works that spell her name then why break from the norm. Some of the best proposal stories I've ever heard are the ones where there wasn't some big build up, just sitting on the couch watching the Late Show or over grilled cheese sandwiches. I wish you all the best of luck and in the end the how you ask isn't as important as the fact that you did..

Hell I proposed to my wife while she was putting away the groceries. I had gotten her a black pearl necklace made some years before and it needed repair. So when I dropped off the necklace I picked up the ring also custom made just for her (most people have a barber or a tailor, I have a Jeweler). On a Wednesday night after a Walmart run she was at my apartment helping me put the food away. I told her.."Oh I went and got your necklace fixed. Picked it up today.."She was like "oh thanks" .. I told her that "Look you can only have this back if you will do me one favor" She was like " I know I know be more careful with it".. I told her "No! .." as she turned the corner I was on one knee with the ring and said "if you marry me".. She cried said some words that are censored here and just kept asking if I was kidding her. I'm thinking yea the size of the rock on your finger and it's all a big joke..LOL

Just do what feels right for you two and forget what everyone else thinks this is for you two who cares what anyone else thinks..

Hell if you want to propose do it with her all dirty and smelling like a Lama that's the girl you love right??

I think it's a super cute idea, but I think it's really obvious that you will be proposing to her! Oh well, most women have some sort of hunch that their man is going to drop the question anyways.

    Is it your first anniversary?

AAWW freakie frog that was so cute! i think it's those random surprises that mean the most. those "catch 'em off guard" proposals, haha. those are the ones that'll be remembered forever.

scubaf250 - honestly i'm really not a materialistic girl & i cant stand the ones that are. to me its not about the extravagant meaningless "stuff", it's the quality time spent together.

i wish you the best of luck.

Yeah Its our first anniversary =P

Thanks everyone! Yeah that's what I was trying to tell them was that it would be meaningful to both of us and she's kind of shy so something big and gnarly in front of a ton of people wouldn't be that great for her lol!

Thanks again everyone! I'll let you all know how it goes!!

Did you talk to her dad yet? That was the part that made me the most nervous. My father in-law is fairly old fashioned, so I made sure to keep him happy.

I proposed to my wife on our 4th anniversary by taking her to a beach on Lake Erie. I made a small note reading "will you marry me" then I burned the edges (to make it look old) and placed it in a small Captain Morgan bottle. When we were walking the beach during a sunset, I distracted her, then threw the bottle into the waves. I then said "hun, what's that" (acting surprised). She picked it up with the excitement of figuring out what it was...In the meantime, I knelt down on one knee and waited for her to turn around. She finally turned around and I had the ring box open...She cried and eventually said yes! Our one year (marriage) anniversary is on july 10th!

I totally hear you though! I was such a nervous wreck the entire time. Best of luck to you!

If how you ask is important then your asking the wrong person.

How you ask shouldn't be an important deciding factor, but it does make it more fun and memorable!

She will be happy however I ask, just want to make It memorable lol

Recently went to a wedding and the pastor recapped how my friend proposed to his girlfriend and that on top of what my friend was saying made me think I should try to make it extra special but now that I think about It the way I have planned will surprise her and be special =)

Let's just hope the crazy late night beach people aren't out =/ haha!

I still think if you stand any chance with the family you should ask him ahead of time. Old fashioned or not...it makes you look better.

Even if you don't tell anyone else at all, you should still at least let him know you are planning to....even if you don't give him any details...

I think its a great idea,

hell, my fiance proposed to me after we were doing "yard work" all day
we both were all sweaty and tired...and we went fishing afterwards..we didnt even catch anything lol.

If she loves you, any way you do it will be special.

    Good Luck!

Nothing like going back to where it all started.

    Good luck :D

Is this your first year together? I couldn't imagine how nervous I'd be if I proposed after only a year, that really is hardly any time to get to know someone!

And for the record, as long as you are ready and as long as you know you want it, it doesn't matter what you do.

My fiancee asked me to marry him last November. He asked me at the restaurant where we had our first date. It was just He and I. No one else. No family, no big show. Just dinner, dessert and a ring.

    It was fantastic.
