BP Breeders in Northwest Florida
Hi, I live in Milton and trying to start a Ball Python collection and was just wondering if there are any reputable dealers around here with normal Ball Pythons.
-
A little further away but in FL (Miami) http://www.breedingcircle.com/ Jonathan has amazing snakes and I have been very happy indeed
-
Re: BP Breeders in Northwest Florida
Thanks Anna, however I can't go to Miami or anywhere else at the moment except in my surrounding area.
-
I'd help you out with finding a breeder in NW FL since I live here as well... But sadly, I don't know any around here either...
But, I can recomend Dr. Whiteside at Wynn Haven Animal Clinic near Navarre as a vet. He's the closest qualified vet that I know of for herps. He's seen my bf's Bearded Dragon, and will see my Ball Python in a few weeks for a general check up, as he's on vacation now.
How far are you willing to drive to pick up a ball python? Just General Panhandle Area?
-
Like I said in my earlier post, I can only go to my surrounding areas such as Pensacola, Navarre, Pace, and Ft. Walton. Thanks for the info about the vet though. Also is it okay to buy Ball Pythons online from reputable dealers?

Gotcha. And I know it's a bit far off, but Repticon is going to be in Pensacola Aug 13th and 14th
Here's the website for it http://www.repticon.com/pensacola.html
So, if you haven't found a breeder or snake by then, you can go if you'd like, and see what they have there. :D
I plan on going, and trying to convince my dad to let my little brother get a snake that weekend, since he wants one now that he's seen mine and thinks he's pretty cool
-
Actually that was my exact plan been going there for about 3 years, got a California King there, albino, for $40. And a Anerythristic Corn Snake too for $50.

Re: BP Breeders in Northwest Florida
There is Dan Craft he owns Emarald Coast Exotics in Navarre, theres Guardian Reptiles in Pensacola, Dixie Serpent Den in Pace. I am just starting to breed in Fort Walton Beach and I just cut two clutches today and I will have some after they eat a few times. Also the last Repticon in Pensacola sucked the only people that had cool snakes were Sean from Exotics by Nature, Tim Bailey from Bailey & Bailey Reptiles and Dan Craft.
-
Wow didn't know there were that many around here, I will definitely check them out. Thanks a lot!
-
I also didn't know there were that many around here... I was about to start considering getting a ball from an out of state breeder. But I ended up getting a male het pied from Petland in FWB. He's been great :D
Eaten twice for me so far, shed once, and is real sweet. Had some worry of scale rot, but the worrisome scales are gone now, went away with his shed. Other than that, he seems in great health, but I'll definatly look into local breeders instead now if my parents decide my brother can get a ball too.. :D
-
Nice, good to know he's doing okay, but from my experience never, ever buy from a pet store. I had bought two garter snakes there and when i took a closer look at them in their new home, I noticed they had mites and other problems. Luckily they are doing good now.
-
I definatly know the horrors of a pet bought from a pet store, my older brother had issues with his baby ball when he got him (couple years back from a completely different pet store, BTW)
First off, he was told that he'd eat F/T no problem... He didn't. He'd only take live. And if I remember correctly, he had other issues too, that my brother didn't think twice about, until my cousin pointed a couple things out. (she had a couple BP's at the time too)
My brother got almost all his information from that pet store. Once he told myu cousin, she set him straight... Unfortunately it was too late for the little guy :( and he passed away after 4mths of having him... Now that pet store is closed down, has been for about a yr and a half now.
But, after seeing my ball a few times at this Petland, being able to hold him too, I was quite confidant that he was healthy. My bf also has had a healthy Beardie from them, other than him being small for his age (don't know cause at this point) for about 6mos now. And often, when he goes to pick up food for his Beardie, they ask how he's doing and if he's grown more. On top of that, the employees there do have knowledge on the pets they sell (ours no longer sells puppies, and the kittens come from a local shelter, I believe), and if a particular employee dosen't, they find one that does.
Phew... That was longer than I ment it to be...
-
Awesome, maybe that pet store actually cares for their animals, but I'm not too confident about that. He might be small because maybe they weren't feeding him proper size feeder mice.
-
 Feeding a bearded dragon feeder mice? Or did you think it was my Ball python I was refering to? Loki (my ball) is about 2 years old, and at this point gets 2 adult feeder mice each meal. Next meal its increasing to 2 adult mice, and one small adult mouse. Hopefully I can get him on rats, but I'm not gonna try for a few more feedings.
-
If Tim Bailey from Bailey & Bailey Reptiles coming to Pensacola Repticon I will for sure Buy from him is a solid guy and have great stuff.. I wish He made another contest this year :rolleyes::cool:
-
Sorry Loki, I misread your post, and I did think you meant your BP.

Tim? From Bailey & Bailey Reptiles?
-
Yes Tim was at the show earlier this year. He had some cool BPs at the show but I don't know if he will be coming back. Loki I would not trust the Petland here in FWB they are not that caring for their reptiles.
-
I E-mailed Tim about three days ago if he was going to be at this show, so hopefully I'll get a reply within the week.
-
Re: BP Breeders in Northwest Florida
You can check out Sean at Exotics by Nature he has been to a few of the shows down here. He is from the same area that Tim is from and he has some awesome snakes.
-
Will do. Thanks for all the suggestions.
