    Our first clutch!
I know no one cares and you're all sick to death of seeing eggs, but I'm just so damned excited!:banana: This is our first (intentional) clutch. She was bred mostly to a pastel and a spider, but did lock twice with our albino boy right before ovulation. She's supposedly het albino, so here's hoping for some tremendous luck!

She never really laid inverted or anything throughout post-ovulation, but I caught her re-arranging her eggs last night

Day 39 candling. Starting to see some patterns! The first one looks interesting...pastel? Not sure about the other one. Definitely not the albinos that I wanted to see

Hopefully they hatch okay because I don't think my humidity is right at all. I just added some more water, so we'll see I guess.

Well we broke down and cut one. It's only day 48... but we could not wait any longer. Yes, I know that we're naughty.

We could not believe how big they are! From candling it looks like the snake only fills half the egg, but this one is actually huge!

The plan is to wait and see if they start pipping before day 55 before we cut any others. We'll see :P

And I think that is mold starting to grow? Is there anything I should be doing about that? I think the babies are only a day or two from coming out.

I generally handle mold on any of my eggs by using a qtip and scraping it off gently, it seems to help a lot and so far has been very successful.

I am wondering the same thing. Did you feed them already and they ate? If so, what in the world did you feed them? :O

No idea what the deal is. I thought I saw a thread with similarly fat babies but I can't find it.

whoa.. I've never seen anything like this before. They're really swollen. Something's definetly "up" with these babies that doesn't look quite right. Are they squishy? Or do they feel extremely blown up like a balloon? I have a feeling it's the latter of the 2, but I still have no idea what this means.

I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out. Just stay patient and keep em warm for now. I wish you the best of luck.

    interesting feed on Reptileradio..

So are you going to attempt the warm baths? Or just let them be? And how soon will you do the baths if you are going to do them?

I'm sure they'll be fine! I wish you the best!

Maybe if the bellies harden up, but I think I'll just let them chill in the incubator for a few days and see how it goes.

Nope. All three of the pastels died last night. The normal is half the size that he was yesterday, but still pretty bloated.

Pretty crappy first clutch. I don't know if it's because I was having humidity problems early on or because I got impatient and cut too early, but those two mistakes won't be happening again. I've got two more clutches cooking so we'll see how it goes I guess.

    jsmorphs2
So sorry to hear that :(. I don't know about humidity issues causing that but cutting early probably isn't the culprit. Could be due to just genetics too and no fault of your own.
